Stay safe! We got an inch of snow and then it turned to rain and the snow and sleet are all melted already.

Please, save yourselves and try not to be an ignorant git to tell someone who teaches a class about the Civil rights movement and slavery what kind of shit has happened in America. All of us know all too well what we are dealing with here.
Hope you are feeling better today.
Not to mention we do descend en mass in DC regularly to protest, with mirror events happening across the country.
Congrats!
I’m really struggling with focusing on the book I’m supposed to be reviewing. I keep stopping to look at the news and then regretting it.
The voice I think is just from dry air and a lot of talking/singing Saturday night at the Berks dance at AHA.
Home and straight into the classroom this morning. Of course the textbook integration into Blackboard is broken and I’m losing my voice.
Heading home with sore feet and knees from all the walking and dancing yesterday! It was good to catch up with friends and meet new folks. I haven’t been to a conference when I wasn’t working it in quite a while and it was nice.
🗃️ Psst, friends at #AHA26 #MLA26 and beyond, please share word of the @susih.bsky.social Community Scholars Program, which unlocks library resources for 3 years (onsite + remote) for #contingent faculty & historians at work beyond the traditional academy, due 2/1 s-usih.org/2025/12/cfp-...
I didn’t realize you were here! I’m sorry I missed you.
You all should be very proud. This has been a very smoothly run conference!
Oh Say Can You See looks at freedom suits in DC and Maryland, collecting documents and providing context for records.
It's Day 3 of #AHA26 and we have a full day of incredible sessions. We'll also be at the affiliate table in the expo hall from 2pm to 3pm. The table is located at the AHA booth (booth 301) in Salon A at the Chicago Hilton. AHA badges are required to enter the Exhibit Hall.

The US Law and Race Initiative at Nebraska developed a legal history survey course for freshmen, an OER for the class.
Everyone interested in tribal legal history should check out turtletalk.blog where Matthew Fletcher posts tons of legal documents for public use from major federal cases and some state cases.
Got up after a late night catching up with an old friend to hear about #dh in the current administration #aha26
How many women have died with “fucking bitch” ringing in their ears? Don’t let the misogyny get erased here
Isn’t she pretty! I contributed an essay to this collection and the other essays are fantastic!
Does anyone at #aha26 know if there is coffee anywhere in Palmer?
That is a real shame (sorry did not realize you were in the UK!). Romani history is fascinating and really important for understanding race and racism in Europe. It is something I wish I knew more aboutz
I really cannot. This all white description of antislavery is both incorrect and incredibly boring. Also, working at an HBCU is great!
Early modernist colleagues: check out the Berkshire Conference of Women Historians Article Prize (submissions due Jan. 31).

The final paper finally discusses the freedom suit of an enslaved woman.
Weird to be commemorating the 250th anniversary of the Am Rev while living under a government that has a) sent armed troops to occupy cities perceived to be too rebellious, b) rendered largely irrelevant the representative branch of government, and c) claimed imperial right to rule other countries.
Sitting in a panel on antislavery at #aha26 and the (all white) presenters haven’t mentioned a single Black person in their papers. Why are we still here in 2026?
Are we having fun yet?! It's Day 2 of #AHA26 and there's still so much to see and do today. Here are the sessions the Berks is co-sponsoring with our colleagues at the CCWH today. We hope to see you there!
Nursing rooms will be provided in the Hilton Chicago’s Conference Room 4J and the Palmer House’s Wrigley Parlor at #AHA26.
