Living in London you get access to some incredible *FREE* exhibitions. This small room in the Senate Library at University of London on the legacy of William Caxton & printings evolution was fascinating. Privileged to view such documents. Place was empty - had it all to myself.
Amid the madness, read this book, get a different perspective. @bloomsburybooksuk.bsky.social @headofzeus.bsky.social

Very stylish cover for the Polish language edition of #TheHiroshimaMen by @wydmuza - coming out in May. @PolishEmbassyUK @PortalHistory @ltd_polish @JohnsonAlcock @royalhistsoc.org
Very simple. He's a genius... I'm not.
First trip out to finally visit the redevelopment at #BatterseaPowerStation - did not disappoint. Chilled out on a boat ride back to east London. Boat drinks anyone? 😎🥂
*New Book Alert* #Battle Coming out this autumn with @bloomsburybooksuk.bsky.social - very much enjoyed the research across 3,000 years of conflict. Lots of talks planned across Sept to Nov.
Another London Book Fair done. Always good to catch up with old friends and colleagues.
Very excited to be publishing this book in August. Paul Mason is one of the UK's best political journalists and media commentators. REDS is a huge undertaking as a historian and writer. It's a brilliant narrative. @bloomsburybooksuk.bsky.social
Down to Rotherhithe last night for beers in #TheMayflower - close to where the Pilgrims originally set off for Southampton to then sail to the New World in the summer of 1620.
A very wet trip down to the Essex coast to give my first talk of the year at #ReadOnSea bookshop in Leigh-on-Sea. Lovely place, intimate crowd who asked loads of good questions (and bought books!😉)
It's hilarious that they're pretending Tom Homan is some kind of voice of calm and reason. He looks and sounds like someone who would be hitting Dick Tracy's knees with a hammer

Almost a silver sheen to the #Thames this morning. Ice underfoot and a very peaceful calm to everyone walking to work. HNY #London.
Love the paperback cover of #TheHiroshimaMen out from @littlebrown.bsky.social this summer. @waterstones.bsky.social @JohnsonAlcock This August is the 80th anniversary of the iconic expose from #WWII war correspondent & Pulitzer novelist #JohnHersey on the survivors published in @newyorker.com
Restocking vinyl for Christmas (original taken by an old ex girlfriend) and this beauty getting a run out as we pack up decorations this morning. #Police #Sting

HNY! Have the best 2026 possible.
I think I was excited to be promised we'd watch ELF after Christmas dinner.
If you want to feel you're in #CharlesDickens London, then watching the latest version of #AChristmasCarole in the atmosphere of Alexandra Palace is the place. Very well staged & Neil Morrissey excellent as Jacob Marley.
'As convoluted and deadly as the plot of a novel by John le Carre, but all too real' @dailymail.co.uk #BerlinWall Great pressie for the #ColdWar enthusiast in your life at Christmas time! Listen to my appearance about it on @therestishistory.bsky.social @coldwarpod.bsky.social
He did need a bigger boat!
The drive from Strontian to Lochaline in Morven is stunning. Now at the Ionian Cross at Kreil Church, overlooking the Sound of Mull.
No highlands coo was injured (or decapitated) in the making of this hotel Christmas decoration.
Since Bonnie Prince Charlie raised his royal standard here at #Glenfinnan, on the shores of Loch Shiel in 1745, only two other pretenders have been more embarrassing: Ally McLeod 'We'll win it!' at the '78 World Cup; & David Steel's 'Go home and prepare for government!'. #Hubris
