A goldfinch, with red, white, and black markings on its head, sits low to the ground on a verbena plant. The goldfinch has a stunning yellow/gold chest, which cannot be seen in the photo.
I have many interests, including writing of all sorts & gardening & wildlife, as well as my exciting role among my colleagues @nmireland.bsky.social. This is the first goldfinch of 2025 to visit my garden. My favourite birds, he's in after the seeds on my verbena plants.
