Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil is confirmed to have been killed by the IDF.

Al Akhbar, her outlet, as well as LBCI and Al Jadeed, have confirmed it.

The IDF, the world’s leading killer of journalists, was blocking rescue operations.

The fundamental problem with the NDIS is that it was designed by Productivity Commission with its characteristic focus on competition and choice, rather than on service provision by committed professionals. This invariably opens the way to fraud. criminality and inefficiency - see FEE-HELP #auspol

You just can’t have a cultural industry sector that’s so implacably at odds with Australian cultural practitioners. The sector was asked to choose between artists and the Murdoch press and has repeatedly favoured the latter. Untenable cowardice.

No matter what Labor does, the right and even the centre will always tar them with the brush of tax and spend. It’s the only talking point. So embrace it you numbskulls! Expand every fucking bit of welfare to the extreme! Build a constituency, and make it impossible to reverse!

I can not get past an actual university publishing house, one where so many Blak writers are loved and respected by countless readers and a dedicated literary community, is pulping 5000 books, childrens books, a river story, by an Aboriginal poet. My throat constricts when thinking about this.

social licence: politicians attributing their neoliberal priorities to the public
pub test: journalists attributing their political opinions to the public.
social cohesion: police violence against the anti-genocide public.
the public: pays their mortgages.

University of Queensland directs UQP to cancel & pulp an Aboriginal writer's environmental-focused book for children. Jazz Money has done nothing wrong and doesn't deserve to be treated this way. Her book is important for young readers. Shameful

The ABC's piece was straight out of Morrison's "Labor want to take away your weekend away" campaign and John does a great dissection of it.

Labor wouldn't need to make any changes to the NDIS if it implemented the proposed tax gas which is estimated to earn Australia $17 billion!

They'd even get a little bonus...

So tonight we FINALLY got back to playing D&D after three weeks off (it felt like years) and were again confronted by a horrible floating eyeball monster from another plane of existence — or as we call him, “Greg From HR.”

NDIS savings redirected to aged care
Tom McIlroy
Tom McIlroy
The health minister, Mark Butler, will detail savings from the NDIS on Wednesday, and reveal that some of the savings will go to help older Australians with the provision of essential services like showering, dressing support and continence management.

Labor is winding back elements of its aged care reforms, removing out-of-pocket costs for non clinical services in the Support at Home scheme.

The government has faced criticism from advocates for elderly people, experts and aged care providers, who said these personal care services are essential for people’s independence and ability to stay at home.

The minister for aged care, Sam Rae, said the changes will be effective from 1 October this year.

Showering, dressing, continence care – these aren’t optional extras. They’re the basics of ageing with dignity, and no older Australian should miss out because of cost.

Older Australians, their families and providers told us these services needed to be protected. We’ve listened, and we’re acting.

Greens say community has ‘no confidence’ proposed savings from NDIS will help disabled Australians

Jordon Steele-John, the Greens’ spokesperson for disability inclusion, said there is “no confidence” in the community regarding proposed savings from the NDIS, set to be revealed by health minister Mark Butler today.

Steele-John told RN Breakfast this morning:

People cannot understand, quite rightly, in my opinion, why a government facing a budget, which is ultimately always about choices, would choose to cut their services rather than make the gas exporters pay their fair share of tax, tax Gina Rinehart or Clive Palmer a bit more, or maybe … buy one fewer submarine from Donald Trump rather than take away their ability to connect with their community or get the absolute basics they need to live.

Steele-John went on to say disabeled people and their families are “sick of being used as political footballs”.

We’re in a situation right now where the state government is saying we cost too much. The federal government is saying we cost too much. And in the middle are disabled people and our families who will end up receiving Less services and support. We will end up without the supports that we need to live.

Don't believe the empty threats from the gas industry that they'll leave if Australia taxes its gas exports properly.

Inpex are looking to invest RIGHT NOW in high-taxing Norway. They're taking the piss.
