I keep seeing this quote on the video wall at my work. ‘We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act but a habit.’

I couldn’t any longer. They been using their smart watches with cell service but lately that has been unreliable in service as well as doesn’t last all day. Also their schools keep having them check things inside of different apps for information on clubs and sports and what not.

Yea it’s challenging mainly when the schools send mix messages by saying they are cell phone free but then expect the kids to check things on apps

One thing I have done (and need to get back to) is doing a true debrief after an incident. Some of the questions we tackle (as a team) is ‘could we have avoided this incident’? ‘Did we solve the incident?’ ‘How was our communication during the incident’ etc…

Also note it’s much easier said than done. I’m still trying to figure this out the best way myself.

It sure a balancing act, again keep the goal of providing the tools so the students can get their education. It setting your team’s focus on the same goal. Think about it, in battle the leader of troops are not telling each soldier who to shoot but each soldier has the same goal in mind

Why should they be different? If you keep the students in mind. That should help guide your long term goals.

Man there a tone. My current fav is Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink. Another good one is Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek. And you can’t go wrong with Turn the ship around and The Person You Mean To Be
