It really is! Even with some changes from the short story that I don’t like at all, it’s still one of my favorite sci fi films of all time!
While watching Project Hail Mary, I kept thinking about how much more I prefer the kind of storytelling we got in Arrival.
So I was glad to hear that Jen and Sarah from Movies & Us felt the same way and reviewed Arrival too.
Check it out!
I misread your post.
I meant I feel this should be a clear and obvious entry in the ED universe. This should be called Evil Dead Egypt or something like that. Calling this The Mummy makes no sense to me. To me the best parts of this was when he was embracing the evil dead stuff.
I agree 100%! I feel like there must be an interesting backstory about why this ISN’T part of the ED universe. 🤔
I think one of the reasons for the extended run was that they were able to get some of the IMAX screens back. Mario kicked them off for a while.
I hope Amazon realizes it’s stupid to leave money on the table by rushing films to streaming. This could make another 200 million still.
This whole situation is so interesting to me. What audience are they going for here? Legacy sequel comedies are generally horrible. Can nostalgia alone save this?
For me it’s Jordan Peele because of Nope. No slander to his other films, but Nope was the one that blew me away.

That’s pretty much my review. I dozed off twice watching it. 😅
I appreciated the alt text descriptions. 😁 wine and M&Ms is a fun combination.
What was the most surprising thing you saw?
I felt that Unhinged starring Russell Crowe had potential but they did too much in my opinion when they didn’t keep it confined to the vehicles.
I hadn’t heard of either of these so I had to look them up. They sound very interesting! Thanks for bringing them to my attention.
I blame this on the poor quality of the Jurassic World films.
This is a three-panel comparison collage centered on Wreck-It Ralph casting: Left Panel: * A headshot of Sarah Silverman, smiling softly against a neutral background, representing the original voice of Vanellope. Center Panel: * Vanellope herself, the animated character, shown waving with her signature candy-themed look: messy high ponytail with a bow, sprinkles in her hair, green hoodie, and a playful, mischievous expression. Right Panel: * A headshot of Ellie Kemper, smiling brightly, offering a contrasting casting option with a more upbeat, bubbly energy. Overall: * The layout visually sets up a “then vs. now vs. what if” comparison, framing a discussion about whether Ellie Kemper’s tone and style might have been a better fit for Vanellope than Sarah Silverman’s more sarcastic delivery.
Vanellope is a crucial character in Wreck-It Ralph. We both agree the film doesn’t work without her.
But we were split on one thing:
One of us didn’t love Sarah Silverman’s voice performance and felt someone like Ellie Kemper might have been a better fit.
What did you think of the voice acting?
My #letterboxd review of #BrokenEnglish, a genre-defying new #documentary about Marianne Faithfull. I love the inventive approach to diving into the life and legacy of a 60s trailblazer. 🎙️🎸🎶

I agree! They really lean into the absurdity of it all.
You made it that far without dying?!?!
I am pretty sure the first enemy killed me because I didn’t know I was supposed to jump on them. 😄
I agree with Team Heartless that they needed to spend more time actually fleshing out that friendship.
I would have cut everything about the amnesia and the “big reveal” because I didn’t find it necessary or interesting at all.
That time could have been better spent on Grace and Rocky.
This scene was always odd to me because growing up back then our stores were the opposite. There were more hot dogs in a pack than buns in a pack. 🤔
Ah! I remember now seeing Arrival on your post about upcoming titles for the month. 😁

The blender breakdown is so funny! 😄
Armageddon is clearly the better film because an astronaut in space pulls a gun on someone!
I don’t recall anything that cool in Deep Impact! 😄
“Every 80s slasher film” would be my answer to this question! 😅
I felt even the Grinch had it better than Ralph because at least the Grinch had a bed, appliances, a dog etc.
Ralph just sleeps on bricks. 😬
Milton is a great example! They treated him like trash!
