When I moved to ward 13, I honestly thought I was making an improvement. I knew 2 things about 13: it was Betsy Hodges’ seat before she was mayor, and then Palmisano was in the news for saying “fiery” things after the murder of Justine Damond. And I believed her.
Oh how wrong I was.

Before Twitter/Bluesky I didn’t have a good understanding of the council and wards. I rented in ward 10, voted, but couldn’t tell you for who. When I started paying more attention I lived in ward 12 and came to hate Andrew Johnson as a feckless centrist.

Wards 10 and 8 look like a dog about to catch Bde Maka Ska.

Anecdotes aren’t representative (necessarily), but we were watching the Amazing Race with the kids and decided to watch the family season (season 8, 2005) and were shocked by how often that slur was used by the contestants and aired unedited on a primetime show.
