The guy who shocks the system and gets us playing peak Crew ball again. His time in Europe showed he likes playing a more attacking/ direct form of Nancyball and even with the 442 fiasco I think he’s trying to get the basics right and grow from there.

I love Nancy, but we were actually terrible starting in May last year through the end of the year. We went from “potential shield contenders” to completely off the pace through that summer. Regardless of who was in charge this year we’d be rough to start the year and tbh I still think HR can be-

Tbh I do think he could’ve been better tracking back, but immediately after the turnover I don’t think he could’ve anything besides try and block the passing angle

Day Two:

The winter storm continues to bury my home in snow. Supplies are running dangerously low and my Geek Bar reached 0% 7 hours ago. I fear I may not survive this ordeal and that my bedroom may in fact be my tomb.

just trying to save Crew fans from a full year of watching Hugo Picard get minutes that should be going to Taha Habroune instead

Screenshot from Columbus Crew subreddit (r/TheMassive) on Rydström, the team's new head coach:

"What makes Rydström unusual among football coaches is his intellectual background. He holds a master's degree in literature completed while still playing professionally. His D-thesis was a Marxist literary analysis of power and religion in Vilhelm Moberg's "The Emigrants", the classic Swedish novel about emigration to America. He examined how religion was used as a tool of oppression, and the revolutionary potential of breaking free from it.

The first line of his thesis reads: "There is something enticing in the essence of departure."

🚨🚨THERE IS ONCE AGAIN A LITERARY, MARXIST-INFLUENCED COACH IN #mls !🚨🚨

Please, Henrik Rydström, just give us fun quotes like Vanni Sartini did. PLEASE.

His performance in Lawrence of Arabia was genuinely incredible. Makes that movie just as much as the cinematography and Peter O’Toole.

Darlington Nagbe's line in CLB 4, CIN 0, what could be the last home game of his superb career: 90 minutes, 71 touches, 55/60 passing (92%), 3 defensive contributions, 5/7 duels won, 3 fouls drawn, 1 committed

Vintage DN. If you watch Nagbe, you see Columbus' whole game.

Regardless, I think people should try and look at profiles vs perceived reputation to understand why players like Arfsten are starting over Scally or Tolkin. For better or worse he’s the closest to Jedi in terms of what he can do going forward, which means others are getting reps w/ that playstyle.

In my opinion there’s even a big potential upside to calling up potentially overlooked MLS players that hadn’t broken into the Berhalter camps.

I’m sympathetic to asking why players like Sargent or Zendejas weren’t called in, but I really do not buy that Busio or Scally would have made a difference at all.

I’m sorry, but eventually people are going to have to realize that even the #USMNT “A team” just isn’t that great. You can’t be a good national team when you lack a well drilled tactical identity AND the squad is comprised of mostly rotational/squad players @ okay European clubs.

Tbh I think he could be good with a real striker in front of him. Awful choice to bring him in when this system desperately needs a real finisher to free up the rest of the attack. Not to mention there’s still a hole in midfield which has really been the quiet killer since last summer imo

Like Lassi, Sedjic, and Aliyu are the most “okay who do we know and who can we get” panic signings out there
