Feeling inspired to take these lessons back to my own work, making sure every experiment, every analysis, and every conclusion holds up to the highest standards. Here’s to doing great science, the right way! 💡🔬

Still buzzing from the Rigor in Research Workshop at Texas Biomed! @elisabethbik.bsky.social's comments on research ethics was a powerful reminder that great science isn’t just about discovery—it’s about trust, integrity, and repeatability. 🔬 #TexasBiomed #RigorInResearch #BlueSkyScience

Proud to be part of the worldwide effort to #EndTB through research and innovation. We have the tools to fight this, but we need more investment, awareness, and action. Let’s keep pushing.

Today is #WorldTBDay
TB is still a huge global health threat, hitting the most vulnerable communities the hardest. Treatments are tough, drug resistance is rising, and we still don’t have an effective vaccine—we need better solutions.

Very excited to learn that @elisabethbik.bsky.social will be speaking at @txbiomed.bsky.social's upcoming Research Symposium! The work Dr. Bik has done to call out scientific misconduct and promote integrity is critical to advancing scientific research and gaining trust from non-scientists. 🔬🧪

Absence of c-Maf and IL-10 enables type I IFN enhancement of innate responses to LPS in alveolar macrophages Abstract. Alveolar macrophages (AMs) are lung-resident myeloid cells and airway sentinels for inhaled pathogens and environmental particles. While AMs can

So happy to share our latest paper on #AlveolarMacrophage responses to low-dose #LPS led by @pamelialim.bsky.social!AM #innate responses are enhanced by IFN-beta due to low c-Maf and IL-10 expression, with implications for AM responses to respiratory infections and environmental exposure. #ImmunoSky

Careers - Texas Biomed Join Texas Biomedical Research Institute today and enjoy making a difference in the health and wellbeing of others.

I’m devastated about layoffs of so many promising young scientists. We have a number of postdoc job openings at the Texas Biomedical Research Institute in addition to many other openings. Best of luck to those suddenly on the job market.

Inside the Collapse at NIH Administration officials pressured NIH to avoid clear advice from the agency’s own lawyers to restart grant funding now.

The Atlantic story on the situation at NIH is sobering. We are so screwed.

Altered IL-6 signalling and risk of tuberculosis: a multi-ancestry mendelian randomisation study Our findings propose a causal relationship between reduced IL-6 signalling and lower risk of tuberculosis, akin to the effect seen in other IL-6 mediated diseases. This study suggests that IL-6 antago...

🚨 Delighted to share our paper defining a new role for IL-6 in TB. 🚨

We used genetic variation to show *reduced* IL-6 signalling is causally associated with *lower* risk of TB.
