Yeah looks like a scuff during assembly or shrink wrapping which happens on rare occasions. Not to worry! Tracking to follow.
Hey David! That’s clearly damaged - let us sort you out with a new one. I’ll get one shipped out to you in the morning. You can hang on to that one for a preview of the pristine one which will arrive soon.
The Read-Only Memory version of my book Indie Game Works is available to buy now. This is a 1000 copy limited edition with a unique cover that is releasing ahead of the general Thames & Hudson launch next month.

Very happy I got to be part of this book, it's gorgeous and it's fun to see other dev's notebooks!
(everyone else's notebook looks like art and mine is just insane scribbles lol)

Not a sponsored link or anything, just a shout-out to one of my absolute favourite gaming books. One I’d highly recommend to anyone.

Ah same here! I do love that branding… so it was a pleasure to be able to go to town and make this a love letter to the JP look.
Yes I removed the backer names for this new version - we have 48 pages of new material to make up for it though!

Correct! Ours our exclusive to our site, and come in two variants – the screen-printed 'Sega Black' version or the acrylic slipcased Deluxe Edition. The contents are the same across all editions.
A hardback edition of “The Oral History of Guitar Hero, Rock Band and the Music Game Boom” placed on a table beside a yellow bookmark that is no longer required now that I’ve finished reading the book.
An electric guitar placed over a page near the end of “The Oral History of Guitar Hero, Rock Band and the Music Game Boom”. The top horn of the guitar focuses attention on one particular paragraph that reads as follows: 66 Ryan Lesser You know, this wasn't originally our goal — our goal was to make people feel like musician(sl but what would happen, we would start hearing that guitar sales, and then later things like drum sales for Rock Band, were picking up because people were graduating out of Rock Band and graduating out of Guitar Hero and wanting to play the instruments for real. We would hear from the actual instrument manufacturers, saying that they saw upticks in their sales. That became really important to us, too, now that we knew that we were making more musicians. 99
The Acknowledgements section of the book, which concludes with a paragraph that reads “Lastly, thank you so much for reading. I hope you enjoyed. Go pick up a guitar and riff your fucking ass off.”
🏁 Finished reading the excellent “Oral History of Guitar Hero, Rock Band and the Music Game Boom” today.
Fast-paced, tons of nuggets of behind-the-scenes that I had no idea about e.g. Bret Michaels’ appearance 😆
Can confirm graduating out of GH/RB with real 🎸🤘🥹🤘🥁

A hardback book placed on a table, open at a black page with the title of book highly visible - The Oral History of Guitar Hero, Rock Band and the Music Game Boom.
A peek inside at one of the chapters.
Guess what I started reading last night!
Loving the five coloured sections 😜 plus it opens like so…
A page with the words "YOU'RE FUCKING RUDE MATE"
You've got to love any gaming book where this is the chapter kick-off

Nothing like the delivery of an expertly written, wonderfully designed gaming history book to brighten my day. I can’t wait to dive in.
Fantastic job @metallicaisrad.bsky.social and @readonlymemory.com 🎸
