So happy you think so, that's one of the best uses for these paints. Thank you for the awesome suggestion! I will be making videos showing just that ๐Ÿ˜Š

Artists - help me help you! How can I make this demo better? I want to get better at showing you how to get the most out of your art supplies!

- you don't *have* to use these paints to make opals, they also make magical sparkly topcoats and accents. When you apply them thin they dry quick and show much more of what's underneath. Experiment, have fun, make something that makes you smile!

-Magnum Opal has daintier rainbow flakes and dries very smooth, Fire & Ice Opal has a chunkier textured bold play of color.
- Try this same technique on a silicone craft mat to get little faux opal gems you can peel off and use in collage, miniatures, decor, and other crafts!

- Don't worry about how it looks when it's wet, it will clarify when it's dry & look like an opal with rainbow flashes!
- This can be achieved with either of the Opal colors in my shop (๐Ÿ”— in bio). For this tutorial I used "Fire & Ice Opal", but it also works with "Magnum Opal"

- The cabochon "dome" should be 3 millimeters high (thicker than a nickel) to get the opal cabochon effect. Thicker if the oval is very large. This will deflate a little too. Don't be afraid to apply the paint thick! Be patient w the dry time, thick acrylic paint takes at least a few hours to cure.

on very thick black watercolor paper, so I was able to clean up the oval shapes with a damp paintbrush and not warp the paper.
- If you add puffy paint, it sometimes deflates as it dries. I had to layer the gold twice.

- use a small palette knife & a small filbert brush to push and shape the paint into a dome.
- Use a small clean firm paintbrush to clean up mistakes. You can wet it a little if your media is not delicate. This painting was done over a thick layer of dark teal acrylic paint that dried for 24 hr...

- Use a dark or midtone background for the boldest play of color.
- Trace or draw ovals first & build a thick dome of the paint inside so you get a smooth cabochon shape (๐Ÿงต cont. in comments...) #painting #traditionalmediums #art #acrylicpainting

That is so kind of you! I haven't been on Discord in a while, but I remember there were a lot of things I liked about it. I will definitely say hi next time I'm there!

Thank you for the useful info either way, I greatly appreciate it! It actually might have a treadle, perhaps we can get it to a thrift. They are so well made compared to modern options I do what I can to find them a home. Best wishes for your good work saving these beautiful machines!

Love this! They don't make them like they used to. Any chance you are in PA? I know someone who is thinking about curbing an antique Singer with table. Probably needs work, but they don't know where to give it to. If you have any suggestions at all I'd be grateful to hear about them ๐Ÿ˜Š

So happy to see this botanical garden #junkjournal inspiration kit heading off to another crafter ๐Ÿ˜Š Some of the goodies inside are vintage so there's a limited supply of them, but there are still a couple left in my shop.

Water sprite painted entirely in Sun Glitter acrylic ink, sketched w/ light blue Pilot Frixion pen. Waiting for her 2 dry so I can fix her aquastar. Been a while since I made a character, but in younger days my dream was 2 be a creature designer. Now I design colors ๐Ÿ˜Š #art #traditionalmediums #paint

Sometimes I take actual *years* before I figure out the direction I want to take a half done piece in. Maybe not the best suggestion. But I love all the different directions and how it feels like a crazy quilt.

I've never seen such vibrant ballpoint pen art. Good energy, I hope I get to see more.
