Junk journal tags made from recycled tissue box. Cereal boxes work well too. I cut recycled board into 3โ wide by 4โ tall other desired sizes. I cover the board with thin decorator paper, glue stick used and an old credit card to smooth it out. One side is always covered with a suitable journaling paper. After that dries, I round or angle cut corners and ink all edges on both sides usually in brown ink. Small grommet added at top and sari silk ends can be used as ribbon or twine/hemp cord works great too. Stamping, washi flowers or butterflies and small tags, old postage stamps or lace can be added to tag. Anything flat that suits your fancy. You can grunge it up however you like ~ it is your art to play with so make it fun and enjoyable ๐ค I usually make a bunch of these up and add elements to match a junk journal as I make the journal. ALT is same for both pics as to the process to make this. This project uses one piece of 12โ x 12โ sturdy decorative cardstock of choice. This paper is from the Tim Holtz paper collection which is now sadly retired but there are lots of great papers available. When planning project I try to keep the paper in one continuous piece rather than tons of cuts that have to be put back together, so pocket and flap placement has to be considered. Score lines and fold are important too. I usually use a 1/4โ margin between folds to allow extra room to add ephemera into the pockets and for pages to fold well. I score all fold lines with scoring tool or score board so the lines are crisp, straight and do not tear. When I add the closure circles, always plan where they will go and whatโs behind them. I usually punch an extra circle and glue it on the back side to hide the brad legs and keep them from getting caught on anything. The 12โ x 12โ paper divides up nice into thirds and the portfolio can be divided into larger or smaller areas. Pockets fold up from bottom of paper and are smaller. I usually keep side to side folds somewhat equal in thirds but allow for the 1/4โ seam. I like to round corners on my projects and lightly ink all edges in a brown ink. Thin hemp cord or other thin cord is used for the closure. A whale tail punch was used to create the tab from scrap paper. Ephemera that I have made and put in my stash can be added into the pockets. Small handmade labels can be added for interest in the portfolio. There are so many possibilities here to personalize and play with. No doubt I have left some details out. Just ask if you have any questions ๐ฟ I am considering teaching a class on this but it would not be until late summer/fall. Would add other junk journal things to the class too.
