We hope for this message to reach and encourage scholars, practitioners, artists, and policy makers who are contemplating how to take forward the Women, Peace and Security Agenda in today's difficult times.

📣 What does hope mean in the contemporary world? 🕊️
On #PRIFblog, Diksha Poddar and Madita Standtke-Erdmann argue: It is a powerful, feminist tool and anchor for the irrevocable belief in achieving social justice and security - which can help us to re-imagine the future of the UN's #WPS-Agenda ⬇️

Margot Robbie is wearing Mughal queen Nur Jahan's necklace. It was gifted by her husband King Jahangir (r. 1605-1627), Akbar's son. Cartier acquired it (harummmph). Cartier's president later gifted it to Liz Taylor..blah blah.

In Berlin, an exhibition of the paintings of Lovis Corinth – deemed ‘degenerate’ by the Nazis – makes for a gripping show about why the work is where it is and whose hands it has passed through on the way, writes Matthew Sperling

“The country had gone into a war based on lies,” said Billie Joe Armstrong, “and no one seemed to care. .. It was a song that came from a very honest, pissed-off place.”

Research article "Claiming Historical Responsibility? The Persistence of Coloniality in German Feminist Foreign Policy" by Karoline Färber & Madita Standke-Erdmann.
Abstract begins: Recently, former colonial powers in the Global North have begun addressing their colonial pasts through their foreign policies. Some of these states pursue a feminist foreign policy (FFP). However, to date, only one FFP makes explicit mention of colonial legacies: that of Germany, adopted in 2021. How does German FFP discourse address this and what political work does this do? Contributing to critiques of coloniality in FFP, we analyze the discursive representation of Germany’s colonial past in foreign policy texts since 2021. Drawing on the socio-critical concepts theater of reconciliation by Max Czollek and remembrance superiority by Mohamed Amjahid, we find that the discourse powerfully establishes gendered notions of caring, responsible, and reflexive German statehood.

GÜNTER FRANKENBERG macht sich auf die Suche nach einem parlamentarischen Neutralitätsbegriff.
