If you didn't make it to #Metascience2025 you could still come to our pub watch party in London today. We'll screen two pre-conference symposia & conference attendees can join for Bianca Kramer's talk on the Barcelona Declaration. Starts 1345 BST - sign up here: www.eventbrite.com/e/metadata-f...
Fascinating three days at
Fostering Accountability for the Integrity of Research Studies #FAIRS event - thanks to Dorothy Bishop & Jaideep Pandit. Food for thought for Crossref around metadata as trust signals, particularly retractions. (Currently available info www.crossref.org/blog/retract...)
Loved this analogy "“No one cares about the longevity of a mayfly, but it’s the population that’s important… these programs are supporting an ecosystem”
At #UKSG2025 @nielsstern.bsky.social mentioning the POSI Principles which guide the infrastructure on which the scholarly and research communities rely to be openly governed, sustainable & replicable openscholarlyinfrastructure.org. Crossref's 2024 self audit here: www.crossref.org/blog/2024-po...
Excellent breakout session at #UKSG2025 "Shared responsibility (or failure?) Who should bear the burden of maintaining the integrity of the scientific record?". Needs institutions, funders, publishers and others working together. More on Crossref's role here: www.crossref.org/categories/r...
Fascinating opening session on AI at #UKSG2025 covering a lot of ground. Almost throwaway comment from Leo Lo in the closing moments could be a session itself - assessment of learning has been based on writing for so long, and now that Gen AI makes that easier, this is a paradigm shift for everyone.
Arrived a day early in Brighton for #UKSG2025 (because trains) and what a glorious day to arrive! Looking forward to catching up with folks on #scholcomms, #metadata and #researchintegrity tomorrow! Now for fish and chips…
First time I've heard this said by multiple panelists though - start of something? Or optimism? ;)
Lots of discussion of open peer review at #APE2025. If your organization is a Crossref member, don't forget that you can register identifiers and metadata records for peer reviews, making them part of the scholarly record, and trust markers for the community: www.crossref.org/documentatio...
Great opening from Caroline Sutton at #APE2025 in Berlin covering 20 years of APE. Come and find me here if you want to chat about how Crossref infrastructure facilitates that "web of metadata" she mentioned (or the Research Nexus as we call it). Spoiler: it's key to support Research Integrity too!
