Of course more privileged people exist and nepotism exists, but opportunities are not just going to fall into your lap. You have to make an effort.

For example: university. A lot of people complain about networking and teaching assistant positions, and lack of research opportunities.

Most of the people I know who are now in academia started out by asking professors if they had any positions open or research they needed help on.

I have a boomer complaint to make.

Sometimes I feel like a lot of my peers (Gen Z) have a mindset that the world should hold your hand with every step you take. Like yes, it shouldn’t be so hard, but at the same time you should also figure stuff out on your own.

It’s part of adulthood.

I am absolutely addicted to screens and it scares me a lot. I used to have an 11h a day screen time, I got it reduced to 7, but that is still a lot.

I’m thinking of investing in a swift, I usually use the back of two chairs or an unwilling moody younger sister’s arms. Both work great!

Most of the things I bought as a new knitter I barely use now. I think if you’re starting out you only need:

- A good set of metal circulars (if you’re very knew and think they’re too slippery get wooden/bamboo)

- Yarn that is comfortable to work with

- Most importantly ‼️: good scissors

The reason I dislike working with cakes is that by the end of the yarn it starts to lose structure and get a bit messy, that can easily lead to tangling. I find that happens less with yarn balls.

Unpopular #knitting opinion:

I have a yarn winder, bought it on my first year of knitting, but I rarely use it nowadays. I much prefer knitting with yarn balls rather than cakes and find the process of putting a show on and winding yarn into balls by hand quite therapeutic.

I’m worried I am actively making myself dumber with screen time. I only watch shitty content on YouTube and Instagram.
