8 million people just marched. #NoKings is real.
But marching isn't enough. Real change needs real analysis.

Reviewing #papers as a postdoc I checked all their #references. About 25% had #errors (authors, page, title, etc), so I listed some & asked authors to check them all.
Things got much better with DOI/automatisation etc, so i stopped.
I've just read a MSc thesis where about 1/3 contain errors - #AI!
Fantastic work. @esolomon.bsky.social ππ
How far can we push transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for those most in need? Our new accelerated TMS protocol delivers more pulses than has ever previously been reported, enabling a patient to cancel planned deep brain stimulation surgery.
Congratulations @esolomon.bsky.social ππππ so well deserved!! ππππ
Excellent opportunity for top notch graduate research! ππ
Preprint alert! Check out our latest work in @stanfordpntlab.bsky.social, with @coreykeller.bsky.social @neuro-engineer.bsky.social @esolomon.bsky.social Nick Trapp Aaron Boes (UIowa) π
Fantastic work by @esolomon.bsky.social @neuro-engineer.bsky.social & team in uncovering a potential way in which TMS can change neural activity in the subgenual cingulate cortex! Implications for TMS treatment in depression
Really proud of this work bridging electrophysiology and neuroimaging of prefrontal cortex! π
This enables future work to characterize E/I profile of spindles, investigate their interaction with SOs, test their role as windows of phase-dependent synaptic plasticity & causal relevance for systems memory consolidation to build effective therapies in psychiatry & neurology.
Our findings suggests spindles exerts asymmetrical βpulsed inhibitionβ on corticospinal excitability, complementing previous reports of phasic modulation of MEPs by the sleep SO as well as asymmetrical βpulsed facilitationβ by the sensorimotor mu-alpha rhythm during wakefulness.
We provide the first in-human demonstration of the feasibility of real-time sleep spindle phase-triggered TMS in humans and of a phasic modulation of corticospinal excitability by the sleep spindle.
Our new paper is out in @braistimjournal.bsky.social
"Pulsed inhibition of corticospinal excitability by the thalamocortical sleep spindle"
