Reviewing #papers as a postdoc I checked all their #references. About 25% had #errors (authors, page, title, etc), so I listed some & asked authors to check them all.

Things got much better with DOI/automatisation etc, so i stopped.

I've just read a MSc thesis where about 1/3 contain errors - #AI!

Safety and tolerability of dual-site accelerated transcranial magnetic stimulation treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder and major depressive disorder Dear editor:

How far can we push transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) for those most in need? Our new accelerated TMS protocol delivers more pulses than has ever previously been reported, enabling a patient to cancel planned deep brain stimulation surgery.

Fantastic work by @esolomon.bsky.social @neuro-engineer.bsky.social & team in uncovering a potential way in which TMS can change neural activity in the subgenual cingulate cortex! Implications for TMS treatment in depression

This enables future work to characterize E/I profile of spindles, investigate their interaction with SOs, test their role as windows of phase-dependent synaptic plasticity & causal relevance for systems memory consolidation to build effective therapies in psychiatry & neurology.

Our findings suggests spindles exerts asymmetrical β€œpulsed inhibition” on corticospinal excitability, complementing previous reports of phasic modulation of MEPs by the sleep SO as well as asymmetrical β€œpulsed facilitation” by the sensorimotor mu-alpha rhythm during wakefulness.

We provide the first in-human demonstration of the feasibility of real-time sleep spindle phase-triggered TMS in humans and of a phasic modulation of corticospinal excitability by the sleep spindle.

Pulsed inhibition of corticospinal excitability by the thalamocortical sleep spindle Thalamocortical sleep spindles, i.e., oscillatory bursts at ∼12-15 Hz of waxing and waning amplitude, are a hallmark feature of non-rapid eye movement (NREM) sleep and believed to play a key role in m...
