It's one of my favourite songs in the show but I can see where you're coming from. It wasn't so much a song about Angel growing or even expressing his true feelings, because the song was coming from the persona Val wants him to put on. It was a performance more than a character study for Angel.
I was worried about him at first but after Mastermind showed that he's pretty much just a stand up guy who is moreso gonna be an ally to Stolas and I.M.P, Vassago was cool with me.
Merch art also implies that he's gonna look out for Octavia, which is just another win for his character.

I can't stand that there's promo cards exclusive to American cons/events. Then they had the nerve to release cracked ice versions of the Pass The Popcorn and Gravity cards so international fans could get them....and none of us got the heads up by the website. So a lot of us still missed out 💔
