Such a helpful model for thinking about energy, wellbeing & regulation.

Will be incorporating this into our neuro-affirming practice CPD for schools 🤩

After years of trauma for my Autistic teen at physical schools, mainstream & specialist, & for us as a family, we have all benefited from education from home. Recently, he put into words why this was important & shared the idea of his ‘fuel bubble’.

Meantime, for those quite convinced that Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is nothing to do with Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), this, from PBS UK, who are promoting ABA and claiming that it's much better than it was. Mmm.
Those following my page(s) get to see the reality of 'Brand New ABA'.

My Presentation for NWACS on Spelling as Communication Last week, I had the chance to present to the Northwest Augmentative Communication Society, as part of a panel of nonspeaking people who communicate by typing and spelling. It is my goal to bridge …

Multi-modal communication for all, always available

"Different motor plans & lang. modes come to me in a way that isn't predictable. What helps me the most is always having access to all the ways I could possibly communicate, no matter how ‘advanced’".

9/9 "Never again..."

'Yes", we say, "never again", but is never again something we can do?

Let's hope from now on it is, otherwise we risk 'never again' happening not never, but again & again & again to anyone & everyone.

8/9 "Never again..." for others to turn their backs, hiding behind their definitions, their codes of conduct, their so-called morality, in the defense of evil they are too scared, or too naive, to recognise & name.

7/9 "Never again..." to see the voice of truth, through lived experience journalism, slaughtered day after day, to stop the truth from being heard & seen.

6/9 "Never again..." to see healthcare workers & facilities, care agencies, universities & schools targeted to wipe out human rights from fellow humans.

5/9 "Never again..." to see soldiers desecrate civilian lives, & deaths, a nation's indigenous land, just for amusement.

4/9 "Never again..." to seeing only blood, where bloodlines have been erased, heads gone, bodies halved & souls irreversibly scarred, all under the guise of precision.

3/9 "Never again..." to hear the screams of people buried in rubble or burning in flame, then hearing them fade & finally stop because they lived in the wrong place, in the eyes of another people, professing, 'defence & security".

In July last year a wonderful group of people came together to create an ebooklet on neurodiversity to raise money for the humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Since then we have raised over £2000. Now more than ever the people of Gaza need our help.

Always worth remembering how much harder it is to attain #WeirdPride and acceptance if you come from a position of less privilege.

Partly, any deviation from the 'default human' (male, white, straight, abled, etc etc) is automatically seen as weird, among the groups with the most cultural power.

3/3 Busy is not always best. Busy might mean we miss out on what makes life meaningful.

Being doesn't have to be busy, as simply being is often what matters more.
