Your last paragraph before your conclusion - the reason I left my last school. I felt students were being failed with this and mine (and colleagues) well being was rock bottom.
I forgot to post this today but looking at the stats many people have downloaded anyway.
AQA Maths Studies #CoreMaths practice Paper 2A and Paper 2Cs with solutions went up this morning.
I enjoyed reading an academic paper on sunflowers…

Royal Institute Christmas lectures 2019 part one at 28 minutes. First lesson of core maths data analysis. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_q4D...
Ok. In this spirit, and for new followers here: @chrisbaker108.bsky.social and I do this thing, every day. We make a slide to be shared in tutor time. It’s a thing that can fill a few minutes. Broaden minds to interesting things and amazing people. bit.ly/TutorGroupThink
I've turned this into a PowerPoint and added more news stories from the summer.
The articles are in Word documents that can be printed 2-Up and double-sided to fit on one side of A4 😊

In #CoreMaths I like to start the year with a lesson on using news articles to do some estimation or data calculations, to get the students talking and thinking about "real world" maths. Here are some recent news stories that I'm planning on using this year:
A set of Maths starters with the title "10 marks in 10 minutes", each containing three GCSE exam questions.
Today's summer holiday fun - creating some Y11 starters. Experimenting with a new format for this year.
New! A post that summarises some of the developments, trends and resources for maths teachers from the past year.
Kind of like a mega-gems-catch-up post to make sure everyone is up-to-date. 💎

Choice of examples are really important so we don't inadvertently introduce misconceptions @arithmaticks.bsky.social
#MathsConfOnline
I don’t think that’s our Jonny! The actual owner of that handle will be wondering what weirdness is going on with their new edu / maths followers!

Awesome session from Nathan Burns (@Mrmetacognition) on metacognition tonight for #mathsconfonline
@mrmetacognition: metacognition is a catch all, backed by research that has a positive impact on learning for all - helps problem solving skills, skill transference, revision effectiveness and covers all areas. So why wouldn’t you want to develop it with learners?! #mathsconfonline
@jwrightmaths.bsky.social sharing sequence for teaching averages - interested to try teaching my average or range rather than by list or table #mathsconfonline
Thinking of language for average definitions - using “distance” instead of difference for range to relate to usages students understand a bit more with @jwrightmaths.bsky.social
Request for an add! Have been enjoying reading through.
Yes hoping to logon not long after it starts
