Had a fantastic time at #ESCMICGlobal2026 presenting our work on polymicrobial communities in our bladder microtissue model. Really inspiring to be part of such a dynamic and engaging meeting.
We’re hoping to submit a preprint soon. Stay tuned for more 🦠-🦠-🧫
I might be biased but @jennyrohn.bsky.social absolutely crushed her talk 🥳 at #ESCMIDGlobal2026 🦠🧫 human bladder microtissue model to investigate how novel antimicrobial therapies and fluid dynamics affect UPEC survival!
Unsurprisingly an amazing talk from @nicoledenisco.bsky.social on urobiomics 🦠🧬
rUTIs go beyond UPEC (~50% polymicrobial!), with the urobiome shaping disease, from protective Lactobacillus to distinct metabolomic signatures predicting relapse!!!

Despite its worldwide prevalence, research about #UTI is sparse here at #ESCMIDGlobal2026. But managed to find a concentrated mini-population of researchers at the poster session niche—enriched for the London strain, but quite a small sample size, p values not reaching significance! #UTISky #IDSky
Really grateful to be part of this amazing community. The conference has been absolutely fantastic, with incredible science, thoughtful discussions, and a great reminder of why we do what we do. Cherry on top: the poster award! 🎉

Next, 4 posters about a wide variety of great stuff - bladder flow modelling, phage therapy, catheter UTI, virulence mapping, and the gut/bladder axis @murraybeno.bsky.social @microberamon.bsky.social @nickyuen.bsky.social @fratorelli.bsky.social

Pretty sure you did a great job! 🥳
A happy looking women gesturing at scientific poster
Its been umpety-ump years since I’ve actually presented a poster myself, but @microberamon.bsky.social had so much data we needed multiple posters! Needs must. Sorry Ramón if I get anything wrong! #UTICONF2026 #UTISky
Excited to be in Nashville exploring my favorite topic: host–pathogen interactions 🦠
Our team integrates urinary microenvironment + mechanical cues (flow) in a bladder microtissue model to better evaluate antibiotic and phage therapies against UPEC
Come check out poster 16! 👀

After climbing Mount Kinabalu (4095.2 m!), I’m ready for my next adventure.
I’m excited to share that on Monday I’ll be starting my second postdoc in the @continiclau.bsky.social group at Imperial College London.
Added to my reading list!!! 🙏🏼 thanks for sharing 😉
A four-panel figure showing scanning electron micrographs of Pseudomonas biofilm on the surface of pig lung tissue. Aggregates of bacteria sit on top of a network of collagen fibrils, with some bacterial cells penetrating the collagen mesh.

Four graphs, showing the response of PA14 and an isogenic pel mutant, and PAO1 and an isogenic pel psl double mutant, to meropenem and colistin. There is no difference between the response of mutants and WTs.
During her PhD, Jenny found something unexpected: biofilm-deficient P. aeruginosa mutants were just as tolerant to antibiotics as the WT when grown in our cystic fibrosis lung model. But why? #MicroSky 1/n
Congratulations!!!! 🥳 amazing news!!!
Now, this is officially a problem. MSCA fellowships need to be competitive, but it cannot be a lottery. Time to focus on the core mission of supporting science and ditching all vanity initiatives in the Horizon Europe program. (Looking at ERC super-grants...)
Excited to share our preprint that describes the mechanism of action of an historical infection remedy called Bald’s Eyesalve. In this preprint, we show that Bald’s Eyesalve has multifaceted mechanism of action against both S. aureus and A. baumannii (1/n).
Less than one week to apply to this 2.5 yr PDRA!
If you're passionate about biophysics #AFM #Microscopy applied to bacteria and #antimicrobial research this will be a great opportunity in the beautiful city of Sheffield. 😀
