Started working on the first boss of the game (and hopefully the final boss of the demo). These are just the initial states. The player will have to use crates to deal damage, as at this point the character doesn’t have any weapons yet.

Hey There!

I just wanted to show off the status menu #UI for ByteBlaster! Seeking feedback and opinions. Is this a fine design for Erro’s status screen?

Oh, yeah, and the big rock is cool too…

Follow for more ByteBlaster!

Released some status effects today! These are my favorites but there's more.

This schedule of making stuff for two weeks then releasing them over the next weeks feels right, so the next weeks I'll be working on new stuff.

I've added mini spawners, which have a 30% chance of spawning in a group of enemies when the player gets close 👾🦆

going to start posting devlogs of my very very in-development game, inner moon, a little exploration platformer inspired by games like cave story and you have to win the game... #gamedev #indiegamedev #platformer #godot

Expanded the build animations to have some more intermediate frames. Much more interesting to look at them hammer away now! 🔨

I've started making the snow biome actually unique from the others, starting with 2 new enemies. Being a rock mouse and a miner mouse

You'll meet all sorts of people in #MUSO, like this young man! He's one of Markus and Atabi's classmates. They don't get to do much together, though - his dad is a worrywart...

One of the last things I needed to implement for my initial prototype was swimming. Got it added yesterday. The water itself is a little rough and will need more work once I get past the prototyping phase, but I like how the swim animations look in it. #godot #indiedev #gamedev #indiegame

I've made a simple cutscene that plays when all enemy spawners are destroyed. 🎥

It's very basic right now, but I'm really happy with the camera panning, and I think it will look great when the level is more than just cubes 😅🦆

Ohh, I can set the damping of the rope joints greater than 16, which for some reason I thought was the max... Lot less elasticity in the rope now, and more control, though it might not look like it :--) I'm redoing the Pirkkalans' physics, too. You can already launch them in the air easier.

I haven't worked on the game much this week, but what I have done is add a simple dissolve effect to the enemy spawners when they are destroyed.

I think it looks pretty good! 🦆

That’s also a really good idea! When I do the pause menu I’ll keep this in mind. Thanks!

I haven’t really thought about adding those sort of things, but I reckon some could work well. I’ll have to give them a try and see what works

Thank you! The camera is the perspective of another person following the player, basically recording their journey. I wanted to make a second person perspective, and this was the best way I could think of approaching that.

I've added some new things over the past few days.

Firstly, enemies become semi-transparent when in front of the player so that they are visible at all times. 👻

Enemies now also spawn indefinitely until the spawners are destroyed ☠️🦆

The colour palette definitely helps but I'm just sitting here like "woah, this looks like a video game, like... the kind of thing other people might play!"

Hey There!

Introducing Balloon Guy! Unsuspecting as he may seem, he’s hiding things. More balloons, maybe? You’ll see him around in some strange places in ByteBlaster.

I've added dead bodies, which lay all over the levels providing additional health and ammo ☠️

I'm also thinking about giving some of the dead bodies a bit of a backstory as to how they died, in the form of a journal entry📖🦆

Hologram effect. Feels like it's missing something but also can't come up with what. Tried adding rim glow but it kinda covers up the volume effect entirely because it's mostly visible on the edges of objects

I've added sprinting so that players can quickly get out of any overwhelming situations 🏃

It can only be used in short bursts and has a recharge time, so it must be used wisely 🔋🦆
