True, many algae species can grow into different shapes depending on the environmental conditions! Sharing to see if we can another opinion here...
Any other algae folks want to weigh in here? The spherical growth is pretty distinctive, but I can't say I've seen this one before. #phycologyfriday 🦑
Interesting! There are quite a few different brown algae species in the North Atlantic, aside from the charismatic kelps. I don't recognize this one immediately, but the fluffy spherical morphology is very cool. Maybe a Desmarestia species?
