symmetrical baroque hallway, lit very bright, at its center a naked woman squirming in an opulent chair, her head wrapped in a cocoon suspending her from the ceiling in a massive spiderweb like structure. She is backgrounded by a tall picture frame.

FIFTY pounds for an HOUR-LONG ride?! JFC 💀
It will never not be low-key horrifying that the Amazon delivery drivers pick up packages over an hour away and then deliver on the same day. DHL's distribution centre is 30 mins from me, and they sometimes take an extra day.
I get now why Amazon delivers at like 10pm sometimes, but good grief...

A dog poses on a table. He's surrounded by a tailor's measuring tape.
Every time this tailor posts a photo of their workspace, it looks like their dog is a tailor and he's showing off the garments he made.

While I'm tinkering with this outline, I keep thinking "How do I justify an inexperienced nepo baby being in charge of a unit of the emperor's finest soldiers?"
Turns out I don't have to. Real-life does that for me.
Hello BBB. I have again shared some thoughts on here about the lessons writers working in English can learn from poetry in other languages. Here are my thoughts on the great symbolist poet Stéphane Mallarmé 👇
I despise with the heat of a thousand suns the way I have to be suspicious of all art I see now while I investigate it's authenticity, because this couldn't be more diametrically opposed to the state of mind one should be in while taking in all art.

Maybe some day he'll burn off that kitten energy and commit slightly fewer crimes on a daily basis.
Maybe.

I got curious because I'm on a few of those AI hater lists.
This is poetry.

The cover for the book "Tomb of Heart and Shadow" by author Cara N. Delaney. The title is a bright golden orange colour. Underneath is a pale golden arcane symbol made up of interlocking circles and triangles. The background is a stone-like pattern in a purple color. In the top left and bottom right corner, there are flowery ornaments in a brighter blue. The author's name in white is at the bottom. Cover design by covercreator.uk
To escape the pressures of their families, Saria and Taleysin strike a bargain: marriage and a child for freedom and security. When blood is spilled, they're faced with a threat that may destroy their marriage, and the city they call home.

Swine Nation by Daniel Aegan Cover shows Cover shows four pigs: 3 boars and a gilt. The boar in the back is wearing a suit and smoking a cigar. The one in the front is in a cloak and tee shirt. The boar on the right is dressed in wrestling garb complete with a blue and white mask. The girl on the left has blonde hair and wearing a grayish sweater.
People Die at Danger Park by Daniel Aegan Cover shows a black and yellow ranger background with a skull and crossbones on a triangular yellow sign.
I don’t usually toot my own horn because of my vast ocean of modesty, but the three books I’m dropping this year features my best works to date. Safe Haven is already out, Swine Nation will drop this summer, and People Die at Danger Park comes out later this year!

To be clear, I'm not saying no translator credits = AI. I'm bilingual, I do my own translations (when I do them), so I know sometimes there *is* no translator. But FOUR languages? And this many books? That is very much a "prove to me that you're legit" type of scenario.
No me on the verge of recommending an author's books, only to double-check a thing and realise that they ~somehow~ put out ten books a year in four languages with no translation credits anywhere 😬
I'm not gonna name and shame because I have no proof, but. I'm also not gonna rec this just in case.
A pastel orange post with translucent yellow flowers in the background. Background repeats for the following five slides. This is a post about AI. More specifically, a post about myself, my writing, and how I refuse to let AI change the way I create art. Because there’s a lot of talk about how to do that as an author, and that is honestly pretty scary to me.
Every day, it feels like, something new emerges - a new way to tell AI-generated writing from real human writing. The em dash. The rule of three. “It’s not just X, but Y!” The concept of metaphors. All alleged symptoms of AI-generated text. What’s next?
(Cross-posting from Instagram, so it looks a lil clunky. Hopefully it's still decently readable.)
I genuinely hate what generative AI is doing to art - and the people who create it - and I refuse to take part in this ridiculous song and dance.

This disgusting trend for money-making was just discussed on John Oliver's Last Week Tonight last night.

People will bet on anything without truly thinking or caring about the fact actual human beings are involved.
We, as a society, are horrific.
Ah yes, my favourite depression toucan. That was such a horrible downer of an episode to start the week, good grief. How is this legal?! Yes ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm glad they managed to nail the ending at least, it's nice to end on a high note after all of *gestures*

Drawing in white ink against a black background of a cute hedgehog looking out at the viewer. It is wearing a flower crown in the pink, white, and blue colors of the trans pride flag.
Well, I had an embarrassment of riches to choose from for the #RepostYourArt theme of #critter since that's 90% of what I draw. Critter to me implies cuteness and I think this person is very cute!
You ever write a 2,000-word-scene only to realise that it doesn't work and just kills the story's momentum, and that you need to write an entirely different scene in its place?
Like. I don't *mind* knowing this, but did it HAVE to require 2,000 words to get here...?
Someone will always look at our writing and declare that it is “obviously” AI. I’ve had that happen, and honestly? I don’t care. Because it is impossible to sanitise any piece of art to the point where this will never happen. So please: don’t do it. Don’t allow AI to take away your shine. To sand off your edges and to remove the soul of your work. Don’t let baseless accusations discourage you from finding YOUR style, YOUR voice, YOUR truth.
I don’t write for AI. I don’t write for people out for blood. I don’t write to convince anyone of my humanity. I write because I want to read those stories, and because I hope someone else does, too. I write for the joy of it, to put my soul onto the page. And I will continue to do so, metaphors and Oxford commas and all. If you think that’s sus? That sounds like a You problem.
Because that’s the problems with these “AI tells” - it never ends. Because generative AI never stops learning. It doesn’t matter which thing we latch on to next. It doesn’t matter how many “rules” we make for ourselves to avoid “sounding like AI”. There’s always going to be a new one tomorrow. It’s a race we can’t win. So why are we even participating?
We shouldn’t. I’m not. I refuse to allow AI to just come in, to waltz into this house I’ve lived in for most of my life, and take all of my furniture away. I refuse to let my writing turn into a bare room with four white walls and a drab grey ceiling just because AI has learned how to use wallpaper. Writing is our turf, and changing the way we do it to stay ahead of AI slop is both ridiculous on principle alone and also a losing proposition.
