Shows a COSSA conference badge with attached flair stickers designating state affiliation and that I “play well with others” and am an “official smarty pants” (as well as a first time attendee of social science advocacy day).
Tomorrow I will be meeting the whole day with Congress people from Louisiana and Texas (I am half-Texan) to discuss the importance of social #sciencefunding on behalf of COSSA & @spspnews.bsky.social Wish me luck!

Picture of a giant bright red rose in bloom against a backdrop of a blue sky and a cedar privacy fence
First red rose of the season! The #roses survived the 3 weeks of winter we had here. My hibiscuses not so much :( #redrose #heritagerose #bloomscrolling #happyspring #dailybloom (I hope)
Need to dust off the ol’ “No blood for oil” protest signs
Picture of a paint-dappled child’s hand holding the highly detailed head of a figurine that he just finished painting
Every day I get to be amazed at the art my child creates.

An adorable little black tri, blue-eyed, 8-months old puppy in front of a blooming bush of tiny pink Peggy Martin roses climbing a grey cedar fence. Spring has sprung!
The Peggy Martin #roses are in bloom! (And little man is now 8 months old!) more flower pictures will now be blooming on my feed. Spring is here!

Australian shepherd puppy sleeping in a corner on his back with his rear end propped against a closet door and thus raised in the air above his head while his head is at a 90 degree angle on the floor.
Me: my neck has really been bothering me.
Dr: have you been sleeping weird?
Me: define weird…

And baby boy is now 6 months old. Still enjoying piling pillows, blankets, and toys in order to make his princely corner of the couch comfy. #australianshepherd #aussiepuppy #puppy #dogsofbluesky
A portrait of the Lego pale purple hibiscus set assembled on a window ledge
Long time no post Bluesky fam. The bad news of late has been too overwhelming so I needed to disconnect. Plus it has been so freezing that my flowers are dying. So my kiddo made me some #Lego #flowers. Happy #bloomscrolling
A bright pink camellia flower with a bright yellow center amidst a sea of deep green leaves
Another lovely #camellia today. The tree and bush are literally covered. Hard to pick just one. #dailybloom #bloomscrolling
A beautiful dusty rose colored camellia in full bloom on a tree
I still have some flowers blooming in winter

Folks are just done with the partisan ridiculousness
No surprise: Evidence of "reverse discrimination" against whites (which would still just be #discrimination) is lacking.

Still over a third of whites will claim multiracial heritage on applications (men 3x more likely than women). thehill.com/changing-ame....
Usually on NYE I receive a dozen or so text messages of “happy new year” from friends & family. That I received 0 this year is pretty telling about how my social network feels about the future. Happy New Year?
Single layer of Brussels sprouts, colored peppers, & onions spread out on a baking sheet and drizzled with balsamic glaze ready to roast.
Balsamic roasted vegetables for dinner. I don’t usually photograph my food but when I do it is because it is full of delicious colors. (Whatever veggies you like + toss in Balsamic glaze, olive oil, smoked sea salt, then 425 degrees, 20 minutes - toss after 10 - easy & yummy.)
Picture of a man - a stranger named Joe - using his portable air compressor to fill the tire on my Ford Flex
#feelgood moment of the day: I came out of grocery shopping to find this man, Joe, filling my flat tire (that I didn’t know I had) with air. No expectations. Just kindness. #goodsamaritan

Yeah it’s a shame they forget to put the story in history. It could be the most engaging class of people taught it right. More than just memorizing dates.
Exactly! Dehumanization and threat construction were the two strongest predictors of extremists making specific threats against others in my research!
Likewise! And I will take many notes I am sure ;)
(I am glad my family has gotten over getting me “work books” for my gifts. This is the stuff I actually enjoy reading.)
Picture of the book “Misguided” standing upright on a glass table amidst other Christmas gifts.
@matthewfacciani.bsky.social in my house everyone gets a book for Xmas. This was mine this year. #booksky
A work of art of colored paper layered to make the image of a tiger flying through clouds with rainbow backgrounds
My kid creates awesome #art. This picture he made for me is all paper layered on paper. Everything is cut out of colored or white paper; every stripe, every tooth. #paperart #artshow #lsutigers
Refusing to fund disinformation research is one thing but punishing the researchers is a blatantly unconstitutional intrusion on scientific freedom.

That is why I left Facebook.
My dad wouldn’t know how to use it. He has a basic cell phone currently and I suspect he doesn’t even know where it is.
Feel so much safer now that ICE has carted off all the criminals hiding out as dance instructors at our local salsa studio.
One of these days his head will hit the desk and then they won’t be able to say they are just long blinks
Not yet. Continue to apply for jobs. I have a red line and the govt hasn’t crossed it…yet
