That is a whole lot of awesome in one picture!

“like cutting up the Mona Lisa” is a perfect simile.
I haven’t seen the film yet, but what I loved about Hamnet the novel was its exploration of the rich intellectual life of illiterate people. What does it look like to be super smart, like Agnes, without the crutch of the written word?
I heard a radio story once about a group of people (in Africa?) whose language had no words for “left” and “right” so they always used the cardinal directions to describe location. Everyone in the group could do it perfectly.
Yes — I listen while tidying up the house and baking the Christmas morning coffeecake for tomorrow.
The Vice-Provost gets the implied quotation marks exactly right — “bring me word again, so that I may come and ‘worship’ him also.” #9lc
Keystone west trying to decide which action is most @ackerman156.bsky.social:
A.) printing his itinerary on paper
B.) waiting until the airport to check in
C.) despite somehow receiving an A boarding pass, selecting a seat five rows from the back of the plane.
We vote D, all the above. #UCCsynod
Ah, now it makes sense: we were waiting to light the candle until we could wave long diaphanous flags around it.
(Also that was genuinely cool.)

I think periodic cicadas can offer necessary protein to balance a raccoon’s diet, so all is not lost. @generalsynic.bsky.social
The “Palestinians are Semites too” trope is used exclusively to diminish attention to anti-Jewish sentiment, rhetoric, and violence. #UCCsynod
Such a flattering pic!
Delegate suggests that decades-old resolution against antisemitism is sufficient, whereas we need a new resolution about Palestine every Synod. #UCCsynod
I get what you mean here, but it’s important to note:
Jesus Christ is the head of the church.
The local church is the basic unit of its life and organization.
The millennials even! Those 44-year-old youth are breathing new life into the church, as soon as they remember to take cholesterol meds and schedules their colonoscopies.
FASCINATING how everyone expressing distrust and disagreement in our first woman GMP begins their remarks by saying “in all due respect”…

I’ve been dreaming of writing a DMin thesis on “Power in the United Church of Christ” for *years* and this discussion is only fueling that wish. #UCCsynod
Fred Rogers, we’re sorry that you must always be compared to a saint. You have a better mustache than him.

I’m sure Cean James can help you out if so.
I love that this is a church where we can all say “here we are.”
Blacks trans vets unjustly discharged
People remembering tragedies recent and long ago
Theologians in glory like Walter Brueggeman
Small town church folk
Immigrants
Kids who tell delightful jokes
Here we are. Here we are. #UCCsynod
No apology needed! It feels like there has been lots of confusion on that point.
We’ll keep the lore inside our silo.
But “small” in the name describes the towns, not necessarily the churches. There are plenty of midsized and even larger churches in small towns and rural areas.
As a big city pastor I am OFFENDED, we have PLENTY of tents.
First shout out to the Heidelberg Catechism from the stage this year. #UCCsynod
“If you are part of an exclusively or predominantly white congregation, you are also part of an immigrant church.” We don’t need to draw unwanted attention to churches of color; we can use our own privilege and identity to stand up for immigrants. #UCCsynod
We are middle-aged women, nobody sees us anytime.
Thrilled to celebrate my Antoinette Brown Award sisters! #UCCsynod
It’s definitely not “Western Maryland”!
