Text reads: If the demolition goes ahead: 128 social rent homes will be lost in total - a waste of valuable existing assets. 32 accessible homes will be lost - a disproportionate negative impact on disabled people. 64 family homes will be lost - a disproportionate negative impact on children. There are no plans to replace the lost homes - reducing the number of homes in the town centre. There are currently over 22,000 people on Rochdale’s housing waiting list. Temporary accommodation costs have more than doubled recently to £4.6 million per year. 2 large expanses of urban green space providing safe, secure amenity/play areas will be lost. Mature trees and shrubs will also be lost - safe urban roost, nest and foraging sites for many bird species and bats will be lost - huge negative impact upon urban biodiversity and pollinator habitat.
