A detail of pattern of two birds on thin and bending flowering branches, in shades of vivid blue against a cream background. There are small hand-painted details (such as the feathers on the birds' wings, and the little bumps on the twigs) and soft gradients. The artist hopes the pattern looks somewhat like porcelain. Both birds look as if they just heard an interesting but happy secret. The leaves are simply shaped, the flowers have five lobed petals and pale centers at their middles. Controlling the #HOscale layout from the couch iPad with the Roco z21 DCC controller. Two #Athearn SD40-2s connected and pulling a sand and coal consist. The #z21 makes it very simple to define multiple-units. The sound is onboard the trains’ #Tsunami2 #DCC decoders.

I had a breakthrough! I went with Roco z21 (white box). Saw it in operation, impressed that it worked via multiple iphones at once. The problem was I only partially activated the z21 via a firmware update first. z21 needs to activate first! Then I got blocked by a wlan name needing to be specific.🙄

I had a breakthrough! I chose the z21 controller on advice. Everything for Roco is in German🇩🇪. It turns out I had only partially activated the device- so no throttle response. Internet key activation with z21 servers fixed it. So I learned a ton about DCC debugging, but frankly, this was nuts.

Moved to #DCC on my #modeltrain layout and I could not be more disappointed. They said It’ll all work out of the box. Buy name brands, it’ll all just work they said, it’s all standard! Two weeks later, I can program addresses, read and program things like CV29, but nothing runs.

Spiritual ai?

I do have full ai generated examples. But when looking to do something more narrative I use Dall-E for static source images to ensure I have the right environment/character/stuff I want. Then I ask Runway to animate such as the figure walking.

In each cut, source image is from a real 1915 kodak. The tight focal plane is more to do with a 110 year old lens. The text prompt was simply a light breeze. Both luma and runway modified the lighting and detail and required successive attempts due to nonsense output.

I added some custom MU hoses to the custom #hoscale plow on this dash 8. Still a work in progress but very happy to have gotten this far from a 30 dollar engine from the hook horn era. Engine runs smooth enough for #DCC conversion soon.

I’m more into restoring and updating vintage stuff and repairing broken stuff. I have a large layout of track that goes through my den and my art studio. Everything here, locomotives and rail cars, is repaired, or built from parts and vintage kits that never got assembled.
