Fig. 2 (shortened, full legend in paper): Plasmodesmata at different cell interfaces in C4 monocot leaves. (A) In contrast to C4 eudicots, C4 monocots can be one or combination of either NADP-ME, NAD-ME, and/or PCK subtype depending on the decarboxylation enzyme present in the bundle sheath (BS). Confocal micrographs (leftmost panel) were obtained using an excitation wavelength at 633 nm and dual emission wavelengths at 650–720 nm (magenta for Photosystem II) and 720–800 nm (blue for Photosystem I) to visualize chloroplasts. Note that BS cells of C4 NADP-ME and C4 PCK leaves have agranal chloroplasts (see second panel from left) thus appear pseudo-blue under confocal microscope due to reduced Photosystem II content. The cell wall (green) was visualized at an excitation wavelength of 405 nm and an emission wavelength of 420–480 nm.

Our study led by the extraordinary multitasking Daai Zhang shows here (tinyurl.com/3uhbkh54) that an additional O2 sensing mechanism based on histone methylation helps roots to prepare for potentially lethal hypoxic stress (such as in waterlogging)

Nations’ plans to ramp up coal, gas and oil extraction ‘will put climate goals beyond reach’ New data shows governments now planning more fossil fuel production in coming decades than they were in 2023 Governments around the world are ramping up coal, gas and oil extraction which will put climate goals beyond reach, new data has shown. Far from reducing reliance on fossil fuels, nations are planning higher levels of fossil fuel production for the coming decades than they did in 2023, the last time comparable data was compiled. I am 76 & I have had most of these vaccinations at one time or another. Also vaccinations against Covid, Tetanus, plus Cholera & Yellow Fever when travelling in foreign countries.
These prevented me catching horrible diseases & dying a gruesome death. They did not harm me, they protected me!

Cory Booker Just Gave The Longest Speech In The History of The US Senate Only two men have spoken on the floor of the U.S. Senate...

In his 1957 filibuster, Strom Thurmond said "Negroes ... are not so well qualified to vote as are the white people.”

A Black senator just broke the record Thurmond set with that speech.
