Steam Review by konnichiwagwan minna-tums: You want this game at your local. Mega Knockdown is probably the most fun we have had while running indie games at our local NYC tournaments. Incredibly intuitive, easy to learn, difficult to master- all the hallmarks of fighting games you expect but skipping execution lets everyone play inside baseball a little sooner. This doesn't mean the game is "easier" by any standards, especially important when the regular conversation these days is about old vs modern fighting games. I have been mixed in unholy ways not thought possible and no execution let me cope that I dropped something game winning or not. Bit aside, Mega Knockdown is incredibly fun. It's a fantastic way to get your friends into fighting games as quick as possible without losing the same reasons why you all pull up to the local. Hard reads, matchup experience, playing the player- it's all here and it makes for an amazing spectator show as well!

MegaKnockdown is so great. It is turn based, and yet it sometimes feels like a normal fighting game.
You can even turn the turn counter down to force people to play fast. It's not quite real time but it is close; if you aren't fast enough you just stand and don't block!
We ran this game at TSB and at joeycon and it was absolutely godlike. Some of the best moments we've had for spectators and commentary alike. Everyone should hop on this game. Leave reviews for games you think rock!!
No, but a few community members are working on something like that.
The cpu opponent chooses a random action, weighted toward special moves, blocking, or attacks which are more likely to land at that spacing.

Mega Knockdown is like a simultaneous turn-based Street Fighter on a grid, with hand-drawn art.

Pressing pause brings up a little menu that can bring you back to character select, and you can see your specials.
Since it's simultaneous turn based, it doesn't actually stop the game (the action only progresses when you lock in), but if you're playing "blitz" speeds it'll stop the thinking timer.
