Reform UK plays down Goldsmith role on green policy - Farmers Weekly Reform UK has sought to distance itself from suggestions that Conservative environmentalist Ben Goldsmith is shaping its agricultural and nature policy,

Reform UK have rejected ‘policies involving the rewilding of productive farmland or the destocking of upland farms’, stating they “are not aligned with its principles or objectives”.’

Lest we be in any doubt about how disastrous Farage would be for nature…

Rough-legged Buzzard sat in a Norfolk field

Rough-legged Buzzard sat in a Norfolk field

A New Year gift - Rough-legged Buzzard along the back lanes en route to the Norfolk coast, near Gresham village. Initially hovering close overhead, drifted down into a field by the time I could safely stop. Sat for a while before departing westward. No sexy pictures. #norfolkbirding

Climate change and marine heatwaves are rapidly changing seas and their associated wildlife. The speed of change means we have little real understanding of where things are heading.

Two birds I had wanted to see this summer and both were found at Minsmere today although a little distance. At least 6-8 of the Spotted Redshank could be found in the Black-tailed Godwit flock.

Wolverine returns to southern Finland Wolverine has returned to southern Finland after being hunted to local extinction in the 19th century. Using satellite imagery and field data, scientists tracked the mammal's recovery and found that it favours older, mixed deciduous forests. Despite the comeback, Wolverine remains endangered in Finland due to habitat fragmentation, low genetic diversity and small population size.

Once hunted to local extinction in southern Finland, Wolverine has been observed returning to its historical range:
