Restoring connectivity doesn’t always have to be at landscape level…
Cattle grids are death traps for smaller species, preventing movement for many species beyond the livestock they are designed to exclude
If You live rurally, ask landowners to act, or add a few bricks 🧱

I know Paul well, know the quality of his efforts as I worked alongside him for some years - But still wasn’t aware of his publication
Thank You Claire - That’s a new report for me
Did u know? If you have a cattle grid close to you, install a ramp inside each subterranean compartment so that small souls like hedgehogs, mice & amphibians can escape if they inadvertently fall in. We made some simple brick steps in ours. Works perfectly. 🙏🌍🦎🐸🐀🦔

“They’re destroying more than fifty research facilities..labs that house decades of irreplaceable long-term science, the kind you literally cannot restart once it’s gone. And they’re replacing all of it..with fifteen political appointees”

People often ask - What can I do as an individual to make a difference?
Here’s a great example of where a conservation problem (#roadkill) can be reduced by volunteers directly, while the advocates are seeking to create wildlife tunnels to resolve the problem permanently…

Exciting times! Reintroducing condors to the wild in California is one of the great ongoing successes for conservation in North America
Great nature recovery work takes great vision, commitment, and patience, with decades needed for effective delivery

Success! Evidence of a bear enjoying last autumn’s beech mast.
We also found clues of other interactions with the beech tree: some glistening inkcaps, and a dormice’s cache of hazelnuts inside a treehole
