Education and medical protections lead to folks having fewer kids (and fewer kids born dying).

If any more awful men wish to file their resignation from Congress, for heaven’s sake, send them in. I’m quite at my leisure.
Same goes for every "genius" academic or scholar.
We are not in a moment for grace or nuance with this administration.
Not actively destroying science and enabling fascism, like Jay, is the line.
I’d like to kick off the discussion on scientific integrity by booting the corrupt podcaster Jay from the lineup.
Narrator: That is not how we improve.
The last time I tried to engage with Jay Bhattacharya in dialogue I ended up on administrative leave. 🤷♀️
The Artemis II Mission was also a hopeful event because everyone was competent, everything was based in taking science forward and it wasn’t funded by a cartoon villain billionaire and we aren’t used to seeing that kind of national event from America anymore.
Some tubes are like that when they get older okay?!
This is an incredible paper, chock full of neat results and very nice data visualization. A few of my reactions:
- Correlation between synanthropy and research effort, LOL
- Spillover associated not just with trade but illegal trade, yikes
- Wait we eat HOW many species in the Carnivora?
i firmly believe that kennedy wants preventable diseases to rip through american communities since, in his warped mind, those who survive without vaccines will have proven themselves “healthy.”
I love these bees and their little neighborhoods! 🥰 And so fun to see my friend Hannah in Adrian's video 🤩
I was able to visit a similar site near campus a couple weeks ago, and will be posting pics this weekend of some of the fauna 🐝
Tens of thousands of publications from 2025 might include invalid references generated by AI, a Nature analysis suggests. #ResearchPublishing #Academicsky 🧪

💯
Sugar, he’s going down swinging.
A major problem is the president (and those serving our country generally) should give a shit what happens to the people here. He does not, and actively despises most (who voted against him). 🙃
Look at all that DEI sending astronauts around the moon.
🙌
What a bizarre turn in JD Vance’s totally real conversion to Catholicism. 😒
Beautiful photos. This absolutely looks like the E. muscae complex!
macro photo (side view) of fly infected with a white fungus. the fly is hanging upside-down from the end of a green leaf with its legs folded tightly. the wings are extended and the abdomen is full to bursting with fungus. the fungus is also growing out of segments that make up the abdomen, creating fuzzy white stripes across the black body.
macro photo (3/4 view) of fly infected with a white fungus. the fly is perched on the top of a green leaf with its legs splayed towards the edges of the leaf. the wings are extended. white specks sparsely decorate the bristles and wings, but there is not much fungal growth present on the outside of the fly.
macro photo (dorsal view) of fly infected with a white fungus. the fly is hanging upside-down from the end of green buds of a clustered flower with its legs splayed across multiple buds. the wings are extended and the abdomen is full. fuzzy white fungus is present on the bristles of the abdomen and along the wings.
noticing a lot of infected zombie flies lately. (Entomophthora muscae complex?) I've been surviving the *gestures at the world* by deep diving into nature, so thank you pathogenic fungi.

2022 Tweet from Caroline Keroack: "I have a whole PhD I whisper to myself, as I write C1V1 = C2V2 on a paper towel for the 8000th time."
This tweet is all of us.
Hey @propublica.org! I love your work. Please meet worker demands so it can continue. No workers, no propublica.
A curious observer can see this extremely clearly in the Republican effort to attack the rights of trans folks and disassemble DEI initiatives.
So called “DEI” grants were politically pulled from scientists. Every federal RFP can be tracked to a vote a politician made at the Capitol.
Here is a take for you Bluesky.
Having the perspective that science isn’t political is a privilege.
The louder you say it, the more obvious it is you can’t put yourself in the shoes of folks who know science and politics are indelibly intertwined.
Our NIH/CDC director spoke at 2 presidential rallies, and though he continues to speak at right wing rallies, his name isn’t even mentioned in this paper.
Only critics of the MAGA/MAHA agenda can be “political.”
Only we have free will and agency.
