Vancouver council unlocks $1.4M for SRO upgrades, cooling-warming rooms A UBC housing researcher said: “Indoor heat exposure in SROs is dangerous and leaves tenants at elevated risk of heat-related illness, injury and death.”

Extreme indoor temperatures can be life-threatening in SROs. Cooling and warming retrofits are critical to reducing that risk.
