Aight brown beetle in Bill’s hand. It had a horn on top of its head, pointing up. Then another on its nose, pointing to the front. The second horn moves up and down. Not sure what it would pinch in that direction, but whatever.

I should clarify, I’ve always liked Marie Kondo’s ideas. Why hang on to things when you don’t need them or appreciate them? There are people w serious hoarding issues in my husband’s family and I worry about us some days. Also, about the above, I am Jewish and we had a piano so it hit home.

I read a book as a kid about a Jewish family in Germany that wouldn’t leave because they couldn’t take their precious piano and then they all got sent to a camp. That wasn’t the only issue holding them, but sometimes I look at things through that lens.

Leafhopper nymph actually shaped like a bird. It is green with little wing buds and lots of blue and orange markings and a tuft of white fibers sticking out of its tail.

Sometimes bugs look like very small birds. This is a leafhopper nymph. It will lose the tail feathers as it grows to adulthood 🌱

The Art of Pretending there’s a Deal

Leading up to my divorce, my lawyer told me to find a place for my kids to spend a few days away from home when I asked him to move out. I was also instructed to have my phone in my hand and a trusted friend already on the line listening to the convo in case it went sideways. I was scared to death.

I can’t think of the words for many actions unless I act them out when I’m speaking. Like, beating eggs to stiff peaks, I mimic the action any time I give someone a recipe. If I hold my hands still I have long pauses while I fish for the words in my brain
