I'm not sure my French is good enough to understand the full subtleties of Libé's review of the Michael Jackson biopic

Just a couple of days ago BBC Sounds released an interesting piece to celebrate the 60th anniversary of The Naked Ape. www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/...

It’s arrived here. You’ve gone for the Kim Newman look of “man in a room full of stuff”, which is great.

Been waiting a while for someone to write this article. It drives me insane. "Did you know when James Cameron was making Titanic the ship wasn't going to sink but Leonardo DiCaprio improvised when the set sprung a leak and they just went for it"

He’s got some decent credits for someone who isn’t a natural leading man. I’ve never seen The Corruption of Chris Miller, a Giallo-esque Spanish film with Jean Seberg(!).

Nice little review. Barry Stokes has a brief bit in my favourite Hammer House of Horror episode, the Suzanne Danielle-tastic Carpathian Eagle.

I'm limited in ability to post today, so I'll repost last year's BOTD tribute to late film composer Michael Kamen (1948-2003)
He departed too soon, but left us with memorable scores and a foundation that has been keeping music education alive in schools for 30 years at mhopus.org

Photo of actor Angela Pleasence in Symptoms (1974), sitting by a lake in the thickest knit brown cardigan I've ever seen.

RIP Angela Pleasence.
Was thinking only today I needed to rewatch Symptoms, and I shall now make it a priority.

I’m now a bit annoyed I missed this at the multiplex. Darn.

Odd that any Powell and Pressburger film could be called under-seen and underrated but THE SMALL BACK ROOM is probably both. It’s a brilliant film, well worth seeking out on blu-ray or streaming on Canal Plus.

7 was the one I got wrong and i can work out the logic for the answer I gave but have no idea as to the rationale for the correct answer.

The best Nolan film. Fantastic bit of misdirection in the plot where the lesser mystery is explained. M. Night Shyamalan didn’t get away with that in OLD.

I was amazed on a re-watch of American Werewolf in London at how quickly Jenny Agutter shacks up with a random yank. They even have to stick a line in the script to cover how ridiculous it is.

The chair sliding across the kitchen floor (as seen in Poltergeist) also makes an appearance.

I dunno, SMG was quite good in Ready or Not 2. Maybe just put her in movies again!

Watched the new He-Man trailer and it's funny to think of how much money has gone into what looks like an episode of Hercules starring Kevin Sorbo.

A look back at “The Harder They Fall,” released 70 years ago today, and how Humphrey Bogart's final movie performance grippingly encapsulated a career playing characters from all across the moral spectrum. crookedmarquee.com/the-harder-t...

Saw How to Make a Killing yesterday and it’s prompted me to now re-watch Kind Hearts and Coronets. And the lesson is “don’t remake one of the deftest black comedies of all time as you’ll just look hack by comparison”.

Dennis Price >>>>>> Glen Powell.

On this day in 1973, I saw Roxy Music on the For Your Pleasure tour and found myself mooching backstage at the City Hall before the gig, where I bumped into these guys. If you'd told my teenage self that in 2019 I would be on a panel in Sweden discussing music with Phil Manzanera he'd have fainted

Yes, definitely. Whenever I’ve seen discussion about US grocery prices, I’m always a bit baffled by how high they seem to be.
