It takes so long to verify whether any fact or video you see on the internet is real. Couple this with the fact that the global explosion of fascism has made it impossible to trust even the sources that used to be reliable, and it is extremely easy for governments to push any narrative they want.

I'm in the process of moving soon and may need some extra funds, so I created a commission page on my Ko-Fi for $60 Full Body Illustrations (+$35 per additional character). You can find more details and message me w/questions on Ko-Fi at the link below. Thanks so much:

Thrilled that my first new short story in several years, "Constellations," about astronauts crashlanding on a distant planet, has been published by the @technologyreview.com. Acquiring editor Rachel Cortland. Art by Rogan Brown. Free link to avoid the paywall: ter.li/r3tbrsgr

A sketchy picture of a Canadian goose sitting on a nest built on a tiny median in an intersection. There are cars driving past her while she beams proudly, incubating her eggs.

Fanart of a Canadian goose who decided that the tiny median by where I work is the perfect place for her nest. She hisses at passing cars but only the ones turning right.

if these fucking ghouls weren't more interested in making deals with AI companies and passing the same billion dollars around in a circle, we could all truly be making good art and living well, and ill be mad about that... maybe forever? haha

as far as jobs etc, im still figuring that out. im privileged to have the time and space to do that and i know it. but just know that you're not alone. it's ok to mourn what could have been. you're an artist regardless of what these companies think of us, and that's more valuable now than ever <3

it did though make it easier and easier to let go and figure out what i actually do love and what i am passionate about, and it's still the craft. always has been, always will be. i feel like i am reconnecting with that apart from an industry that frankly seems contemptuous of animators lol

the industry has honestly been so enshittified and increasingly disrespectful to artists that i think the disillusionment and disconnect from it, for me, happened over years. this current moment just seems the logical path of where everything has been going. been lowkey angry for a long time.

yall remember… companies dont make art, people do. there is no disney art, there is no unreal or tencent art. they create a wrapper around someone else’s art. find out who makes the stuff you love

For #PortfolioDay I have only 2 extremes. Under appreciated professional prop design work (character and bg design really get all the love) and fanart of my hyper-fixation.

Let’s call it romantasy?

When it comes to the animation world, there is something that brushed me the wrong way for the past decade and it's when people call an animator or an animation "bad" because it's not smooth like sakuga/anime ; vintage disney era.

All animations does not need to be smooth to be called "good".

ok buckaroos i am going to talk a bit on artists and writers and publishers and AI, specifically HOW to create in this environment of endless ai slop and WHY i think you will probably be fine if you heed these very important words: YOUR ART IS MORE THAN WHAT IS IN THE PAGE OR PAINTING OR FILM

A very astute (and upsetting!) piece that touches on four scary cultural trends: 1) The demand for spelled-out moral clarity in stories 2) A growing inability to understand different types of narratives 3) The "customer's always right" version of fandom 4) The growth of fandom as a social identity.

Huge fan of this *IF* distributors actually start funding these creators’ successful projects. Views alone can’t sustain a team that needs living wages and healthcare to function. It’s why union animation work is so important and its decline so concerning
