Having two cats is an adventure. One moment, they're curled up next to each other and purring, the next moment they decide to play wrestle and one cat will body slam the other directly into the litterbox.

Uh oh! The flag's at half-mast today. That means the WiFi connection went down and people had to go outside for entertainment. They died of touch grass allergies.

She goes by a little fast, but that's actually a picture of my cat, Noctilucia. That's also an audio recording of her purring. I wanted to get a recording of her meowing, but neither of my cats meow much. But Noctilucia will purr LOUD.

Also, I just now noticed my critical typo in saying that I adopted her in 2014. I meant to write 2024.

In October of 2014, I rescued a six month old kitten who was dumped to fend for herself. A year and a half later, she's now one of the sweetest cats in the history of cats.

She also keeps sneaking up on Noctilucia to nip at her butt. I don't know what made her suddenly start biting at any and every opportunity she gets, but I'm trying to teach her to cut it out. Hopefully it's not a long biting phase.

Halifal's second birthday is officially set as April 2nd, but she's already going through the cat version of "terrible twos". She's gone from hyperactive but still just pouncing on toys to "BITING PEOPLE IS A FUN AND ENJOYABLE ACTIVITY! *CHOMP* *NOM* *CHOMP*"

Interesting finds on my park walk today: Trail through the woods edition.

Halifal followed me into the bathroom, so I picked her up to pet her.

It suddenly occurred to me that I don't think she's ever seen her own reflection in the almost 2 years of her life. Because this cat saw herself in the mirror and looked absolutely terrified. Tail fluffed out and everything.

Interesting pictures from my park walk today.

I regularly ask one of my cats "Why are you so small?" (because she's a smol bean). She simply purrs in response.

I was driving to the park, and these 2 other vehicles were repeatedly trying to cut each other off and force the other off the road. In about 10 seconds, they nearly caused a multi car accident 3 times before they went speeding away. I have no idea what their beef was, but maybe don't do that.

One year ago today, I helped a rescue catch this little feral cat. She had started bonding with me before we caught her, though, so they let me adopt her.

Since she was two years old at the time, we don't know her birthday, so I consider today to be her birthday. Happy Birthday, Noctiluca! #cats

Sometimes, even if it doesn't actually fix the problems, I guess I just need go out and get some fresh air. Even if that fresh air is at the start of a winter storm. Now I'm having tea to fix that "out in the cold" part.

Felt miserable today because {things I won't get into} and the weather didn't help. Said "Fuck it, I'm walking at the park anyway!"

It was cold, wet, the rain turned to heavy slushy snow halfway through, but I still felt noticably better emotionally afterwards.

Today in Japan it's National Cat Day. In Japan, cats say "nyan" rather than "meow" and today's date is 22/2 (ni ni ni) which sounds a bit like “nyan nyan nyan”. I don't need any excuse to celebrate cats & I've written about cats in #JapaneseFolklore & culture here:
