I am excited to share our most recent work collaborating with @centriolelab.bsky.social and @stearnslab.bsky.social to look at the ciliary base of mammalian multiciliated cells w/ cryo-ET, XL/MS, and U-ExM www.biorxiv.org/content/10.6...

Crazy things have been happening in cilia world, catch up on them in Caitie's new paper! πͺ±
Youβre welcome βΊοΈ
Thrilled to share that our paper on a novel IRD gene has been published in The American Journal of Human Genetics (AJHG)! π This wouldnβt have been possible without the incredible group of colleagues and collaborators. Special thanks to @computingcaitie.bsky.social, Ditta Zobor, and ERDC members!
Iβm happy to share that the latest work from the @carlorivolta.bsky.social lab, thanks to a huge international collaborative effort, is now out in Nature Genetics!π§¬
Congratulations to all, but especially to @mquinodoz.bsky.social and @kimrodenburg.bsky.social for leading this impressive work!
No momentum lost as we dazzled with the ciliary necklace, CEP290 and transition zone integrity in #photoreceptors, inner scaffold maintenance & membrane attachment key for gating with the amazing @abimoye.bsky.social (Wensel group and current @carlorivolta.bsky.social ). #IRDs #UKCilia2025 /4
Yes! That is the best idea
Happy Halloween! Cilia can be spooky too π
Super happy this work is out and included in the really interesting cilia and flagella focused issue!
Agreed! Great getting to chat! π

Hahaha yes! I felt like I was betraying myself getting excited this week π
I am normally focused on photoreceptor cilia, but this week I worked with an amazing lung epithelial tissue model and I can see the #motilecilia appeal π€© so fascinating! Happy #fluorescencefriday everyone!
Thank you!! Great meeting you π
Really cool Moe!!! Canβt wait to hear π

New hope for inherited vision loss
IOB researchers (@karkam.bsky.social, @carlorivolta.bsky.social, @mquinodoz.bsky.social, @abimoye.bsky.social) identify AP5Z1, AP5M1, AP5B1 mutations, revealing new causes of macular dystrophy.

Thanks!
Early ciliogenesis occurs in CEP290-knockout photoreceptors. BUT our nano-scale ultrastructural analyses discovered alterations in the architecture of ciliary membrane complexes, including the Y-links and ciliary necklace that underlie cilium failure and neurodegeneration later in development.
e also provide the first comprehensive nanoscale localization of CEP290 in human rod and cone photoreceptor cells.
Excited to share our β¨preprintβ¨ from my work in Ted Wensel's lab! We present novel insights into the photoreceptor-specific roles of CEP290. π§΅π Thanks for the helpful participation from everyone involved, especially @mrobichaux.bsky.social and @agostolab.bsky.social! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...
Great gene editing study from a highly interdisciplinary team at @iobswiss.bsky.social. Congratulation to all authors, in particular Alissa Muller, Botond Roska & Bence GyΓΆrgy.
