I'd say soon as its clear where this country goes after this current administration sunsets, there'll be a few Chinese EVs that are basically light 3 box sedans and wagons available stateside.
LOOK. What the world needs now is a K-Car.
I mean, in some dynamics, GM X cars were better but the "Plymouth Valiant"-ness (nee Toyota Camry-ness) of K cars is the kinda basic transit module most people need.
Tan line season incoming!
Protect Jackie Fielder.
Post a car that matches its surroundings. #weirdcarbs #BelieveInFilm
(Luckily it's my own car)
Tahoe, bewitching body of water, leads me deep within myself before I surface again.
(if we're still doing trigger warnings, there's discussion of anti-queer violence)

Like tbh this is the kinda post I'd expect reshared by following a fair skinned biracial person that does not live a fully culturally African American experience.
When those voices represent Black culture in white liberal/progressive spaces over visibly Black faces, we get elevation of slop.
It's also, just nothing really actually *good* seemingly comes out of Hollywood at this point. It's not a zone for actually nuanced, sophisticated or genuinely innovative art happens. It all sells for the lowest common denominator + shows how culturally illiterate Americans are.
No one that looks like this truly gets Black music like lmaooo PLEASE
Also it is SUPER telling that he couldn't find a Black American to do the score/music/soundtrack, which also left me flat. You seriously can't tell me in an African American tradition that you couldn't find someone Black to steward the sonic base of a film that has music at the core.
It seems that Coogler, to me, is just getting rewarded as a distraction tool for empire in the same way Tyler Perry normally is, just with a bigger production budget. It took up way too much Black public consciousness seeking validation distractions from insipsid entertainment.
Third the whole movie is.... kinda basic and just feels like elevated Blaxploitation with modern cinema values, no real sense of humor (it takes itself way too seriously) or realistic depth other than "make the deal with the devil." Actual Black for Black cinema has covered this since forever.
Second, there's no way you are centering the supernatural or connections to African Traditional Religion without having queer people. There's something so odd and telling about queer erasure with Coogler, who seems afraid to acknowledge Black Queer people exist after nearly 20 years of filmaking.
A big problem for me was the tragic mulatto trope of centering a near white love interest when realistically, in northern Mississippi in particular, it wasn't common for visibly mixed race women to exist unlike other parts of the country that practiced chattel slavery (Louisiana, the tide water).
I just hope people understand at some point the movie itself isn't all that good tho...
So, Gracie survived going up to Tahoe and back. With mountains out of the way, what does this mean for driving to Philadelphia?

Life does play out often like a Doris Day song from a Hitchcock Film but then becomes another Hitchcock Film then not a Hitchcock film at all:

If you didn’t sing this as you went across the Carquinez Bridge as a kid, you not like us.

Suffice to say as a child of a parent that suffered childhood SA, and unfortunately my very early sex experiences, even tho I was “of age” had a similar back story cause I was still a closeted teen at the time, I’m genuinely sick to my stomach.
Sex trafficking runs DEEP in the bay.
If people wonder about the multiple reasons why I need to get out of the bay, it’s not safe.
Full transparency, I was involved in housing work in East Palo Alto (served as Rent Stabilization Chair) during this period.

I'm sorry, but given all that's going on, I can't really care that two relatively wealthy Black actors participating in a white supremacist institution became targets of white supremacy culture.
I'm sorry, but Genocide and ICE raids are far more fucking important.

To be frankly honest, it's a delight to live out your favorite songs and be able to cement it in real time:

Call it International if you must, but I’ll always call it East 14th.
It’s one helluva street. Probably the most Oakland Street of Oakland.
