It's a great read, all science PGCEs should read it, good that you're suggesting it to them!

I shared his FIFA blog with our PGCE student only yesterday - it’s great!

It may be "oh but it's KS3" but if they can confidently use inverse operations, it sets them up well for equations like this...

I've outright banned triangles 😅

Triangles don't teach the pupils to rearrange and I find it leads to them attempting to remember more.

The formula, where they go on the triangle, what to do with the triangle etc.

If pupils can rearrange one equation, they rearrange them all.

I’d been thinking that, but when the formula triangle appeared I wasn’t certain. Doing W=mg with Y8.

FIFA for the GCSE Physics calculation win Student: Did you know FIFA is also the name of a video game, Sir? Me: Really? Student: Yeah. It’s part of a series. I just got FIFA 20. It’s one of my favourite games ever. Me: Goodness…

It has to be FIFA from @emc2andallthat.bsky.social

You ever hear a story and think "No, that can't be true, I'd have heard that before, surely?" A story so remarkable you think "If that were true someone would have made a film out of that." Well, meet Betty Robinson, the winner of the first Women's Olympic 100m final.

Great responses to this. One of the biggest misconceptions about Newton’s 3rd is that the forces can cancel out. This is impossible as a Newton 3 interaction always describes forces on two separate objects. This slide in no way explains why there is no resultant force and feeds the misconception.
