I’m happy you accepted the invitation. It’s been great working with you!
My contributors copy of The Kindread Coast finally arrived! Very excited to be a part of this anthology of writers from Western Canada! Thanks to @shanonsinn.bsky.social and @lavoiecwrites.bsky.social for inviting me to take part in this!
Paperback copy of the YA paranormal novel Devil by the Tail sitting on top of a printed manuscript written in French.
The French adaptation of my novel is sitting in a dozen editors’ inboxes right now, plus one hard-copy in transit. I should hear back anytime between a few weeks and never! 🤞

When it comes to writing, every win counts, no matter how small!
So much lovelier than anything that could be bought in a store!
Picture of a laptop with a Word document in French opened on chapter three. A paperback version of the English version of the YA novel Devil by the Tail rests on the keyboard.
I always wanted to translate my work into French, but I was always too lazy to do it. 😅 But finally, the deed is done and I’ve revised two chapters so far (and having fun!). I hold the translation rights, so I will try my luck with francophone publishers this fall.
Oh, really? I can’t think of what could go wrong! 😂
A brimming bowl of ruby red, garden fresh strawberries.
I’m on the strawberry diet. Happiness in every bite! 🌱
I loved this! I grew up on a dairy farm—best childhood ever. I still live on a farm. It’s hard work at times, but it still feels like playing, and I don’t feel the need to go anywhere else.
Thank you for the resources! I think there are occasional beekeeping courses in my area, but I’ll get started with some online knowledge :)
Nice! I’ve thought about getting some beehive. I have the space and the wild flowers, but not the knowledge or courage!
Today’s soundtrack: wind chimes with a side of hungry raven fledglings. 🐦⬛🖤
Oh wow. I haven’t seen this one yet. I’m the one looking for cool coins for my daughter, though :)

Did I mention how thrilled I am @gravesidepress.bsky.social acquired my short story Winter Wings for their upcoming #YA & #MG horror anthology?
What's more, #kidlit writing friends, submissions for their Gradeside Stories young readers program are still open. 🖤

Pas pour l’instant, mais j’en ai commencé la traduction. Ensuite, il restera à voir si les éditeurs francophones seront intéressés!
Creativity is a bit like a stubborn weed that won’t die: the roots run deep enough that it will keep growing back. - Doug Savage @savagechickens Keep Writing. Be Creative. ~ Background photo shows a tire track road through a field.

Lovely! A little bunch of them grows in my woods each year. I don’t know how they got there and often wonder if there’s a story to them being there. I’m in zone 3 and still under snow, so it will be a few more weeks before they come out.
It regulates humidity so they don’t rot or dry out. These ones have been in there since last October.
It is!
Snowy woods.
Root cellar door cut into a hills in the woods.
Bin with sand and carrots in it.
Fuzzy brown and white border collie dog watching through the trees.
Going to the store for carrots on this fine spring day, in a snow storm, uphill both ways. The woods are windy and deep, and something is watching. 🌱

Book cover if the novel Beast, by Richard Van Camp. It features silvery swallows and a fiery chickadee flying against a smoky purple background.
I only managed to read one book so far this year, but I can already tell it will be one of my favourites of 2025. It’s a YA supernatural horror rooted in Indigenous culture, and it’s also about coping with grief for lost loved ones. This aspect of it spoke to me one a deep level. 📚💙
😂 This makes my day. I can go to bed in peace now!
#Writers, #readers, and #authors of #writesky and #booksky, who wants to help me decide my #novel tagline? The title of the #book is "The Witch of Toledo."
I want to hear which one would make you want to read the blurb or the book! Here are the finalists. Cast your vote in the comments.
Number one for me!
Close up of a long-haired, brown-and-white dog rolled onto its back, with a toy-bone with candy-corn patterns in its mouth.
Dystopian/sci-fi nightmares are the worst! Thank goodness this fearsome goof was in there with me!
We're all hooked by rejection and negativity. Kids (just like adults) feel rejection.
Clinging to rejection leads to missed opportunities staring you in the face.
I wrote BEST FRIENDS as a response to an experience my daughter had.
