No issues at all with tackling unscrupulous employers. Without a genuine bridging visa system, which allows those migrants affected a chance to find new jobs and new visa routes, it leaves people either becoming undocumented, or having their lives upturned.

A large border of pink, red, purple and yellow flowers.
A border between two paths, planted with tall green and gold grasses and purple Verbena Bonariensis.
Beds in a vegetable garden with terracotta rhubarb forcers, a border of white Allysum flowers, and large drifts of yellow Rudbeckia flowers.
A greenhouse filled with pots of chillies, peppers, tomatoes, and marigolds. A large pot contains a sweet potato plant, the vines are climbing up a metal obelisk.
Enjoyed a glorious day out at RHS Harlow Carr on Friday. I definitely need to add more late summer colour in my own garden.
(I've been trying to do this for a couple of years – but most of my new 'late summer' plants peaked early in the hot dry weather!)

Sounds perfect!
Did I stay in bed until nearly midday, reading and doing puzzles? Why, yes I did. And it was great!
A beautiful sunset in Sheffield this evening 😍
much love for the 'don't know' crew who must be wondering what that tree is doing in their living room
A reminder that the Royal Family claim £500,000,000 a year in benefits even though they have £22bn.
While 650 MP's get an extra £150,000,000 in benefits a year on top of their £94,500 salaries.
If we are cracking down on benefits, start here.
Dorothy Bishop resigns from the Royal Society. A tale of how Leon Mask has managed to infiltrate and influence a once-great scientific institution. 🧪 #academicsky
The Handmaid's Tale is a good book. But did you know that there's a book written by a Black woman about a post-apocalyptic Earth heavily affected by climate change and societal decline. The book was published in 1993, but is set in 2024 following a presidential election 👀 #BookSky #BlackBookSky
And I made you all a playlist to listen to while perusing the Biscuit Connoisseur Starter Pack...

This is ABSURD.
Sorry for shouting, but I vehemently disagree that by sheer accident of birth, this one man should have the power over so many that he does.
Swathes of people paying him rent for their homes.
Land reform is overdue.
A map of flight paths emanating from breeding colony of gulls, with this caption: Early on, LifeWatch noticed something odd. Most gulls were making daily trips to Mouscron, a city on the French border 65 km away. They went to investigate and found the birds bingeing on discarded snacks at the Roger & Roger potato factory.
Today in relatable science: Gulls making a mysterious daily trip that turned out to be to a potato chip factory
A nice blanket of snow has made my garden look much tidier. Weeds? Stack of pots waiting to be washed and put away? No sign of them! 😂
A small garden with fences, bins and shrubs covered in snow.
Obligatory snow picture. It is very pretty. There isn't a huge amount of snow and it is melting, so I'll enjoy the view while it lasts.
One of the most novel units of measurement I’ve seen in print

Hand holding a bag of popcorn with ruler markings and the title “A heap of popcorn.”
“A HEAP of POPCORN” is my new favorite #unitchat. Are we supposed to use the ruler to measure fractional HEAPths?
❤️ you 🇨🇦
A description of how to write alt-text, titled with white font on a blue background: "Writing Alt Text." Then, underneath, in various colors: "identify who, expression, description, color, interesting features." Pictured is a capybara, and next to it is text describing the image, an example of how to write alt-text: "A capybara, looking relaxed, in a hot spa. Yellow yuzu fruits are floating in the water, and one is balanced on top of the capybara's head "
Here is a really good example/guide on writing alt-text that's been going around :)
I'm going to follow Jack's excellent example and also shamelessly plug the book written by @mrsouthernmaths.bsky.social and myself. It's available from the @mathematicala.bsky.social bookshop - anyone can buy it but it's cheaper for MA members #ALevelMaths
Welcome to my home city! Hope you have a great time.
I'm so sorry for your loss. My heartfelt condolences to you and your family.
A slide to explain the concept of oranginess (in other words, how diluted is your orange squash?)
A “which is orangier” question answered 3 ways.
A whole exercise of “which is orangier?”
This is always one of my favourite lessons to do with Y8. #MathsToday
Happy birthday! 🎈🎂🥳
A recent study got A LOT of attention for showing that writing by hand fosters **memory and learning**.
One small problem: the researchers DID NOT MEASURE how much participants remembered or learned.
I am not making this up:

Finally managed to get the websites www.frayer-model.co.uk and www.more-same-less.co.uk up and running again. For any maths teachers that haven't seen them in the past (or have and found them useful!) check them out. #UKMathsChat
I took out a factor of x^2 (which has to be positive), leaving (1 – x), which also has to be positive so x must be negative. That left an obvious integer value to try to see whether it hit the required answer. Definitely took me more than 5 seconds though 😂
