Dangerous Cat 5 Storm— Severe Tropical Cyclone Zelia— is headed towards the Pilbara coast in Australia’s WA. It is currently north of Port Hedland, and likely to make landfall on Friday evening local time. Warning zone from Wallal Downs to Dampier. Wind gusts up to 320km/h + possible around centre.
Anyone else already dreaming of summer? Just me? I can’t wait for bike rides, sunny runs, camping and hiking in the mountains. January is hard every year… and this one has been especially difficult.

-10 million people are at risk of catastrophic flooding events from glacial lake outburst floods.
-2023 set a record for glacial melt globally.
-1/3 of glacier mass in the European Alps is locked in by 2050 without further warming.
The ICCI recently released the State of the Cryosphere 2024 -- here are 5 takeaways:
-New modelling of the Amundsen Sea showed some unstoppable ice loss of Thwaites and Smith glaciers is locked in.
-The Greenland Ice Sheet is losing 30M tons of ice per hr.
According to the Emissions Gap Report 2024 from UNEP, we are on track to hit 2.6°C-3.1°C of warming this century.
And 3°C is ALARMING — I had to put that in capitals.
When we get to 2°C or 3°C of warming, we see devastating impacts on the biodiversity and species of the planet. #climatecrisis
Climate change is real.
Climate change is happening now.
Climate change will impact us all.
But there are many things we can do about it!
There are solutions!
It's time to pull the emergency brake.
It's time to curb emissions dramatically.
