I think of how warmly the relationship between Gandalf and Galadriel is depicted at times and I wonder if he saw her before she left Valinor. But as he walked about unseen she likely wouldn't remember him, and it's possible in his current embodied form he doesn't remember her from that time either.

SAME. I have been doing a reread of the Silmarillion plus dabbling a bit here and there into Unfinished Tales. It just made me appreciate all the things they got right, in spirit if nothing else.

It’s so silly how most the concepts, character choices, etc that haters strongly disagree with in trop are actually things that take direct inspiration from the books themselves. And for me, the more I go back to the books the more I appreciate the show even more
