I know so many whale facts, just ask me! This was a super fun episode.
Only thing that got me through that fight! Also weirdly good on Rafael.
Hard to believe #revpitwaiting will be over tomorrow! I’ll forever be grateful to the contest and everyone who works to put it on for giving me a deadline to work toward and encouragement along the way.
I haven’t always been able to take advantage because I’m phoneless during the day and parenting in the evenings but I have LOVED catching up on everyone’s posts when I can! Such a wonderful community.
I’ll be doing a second round of beta reading on my #RevPit manuscript with an eye toward querying in the summer and fall! And perhaps looking into taking advantage of a few of the editors’ expertise for a submission package review ☺️
Yup, same boat. It’s a bit discouraging for sure.
What a great resource, thanks for sharing!
Thanks!
Are they just announced on BlueSky or also on the RevPit website? (Asks the person whose weird job means they don’t have their phone during the day). If I need to plan a midday trek to my car, I will!
Alas, I haven’t seen anything that might be mine. But two of my editors still have sessions and one editor hasn’t done any, so still holding out some hope!
That’s incredibly kind of you! We are all grateful.
My writing group friend @staciemwrites.bsky.social, author of three amazing historical novels, beta read the novel and gave incredibly useful feedback for the query and synopsis! Couldn’t have done it without her.
Just started reading the Murderbot books by Martha Wells, after much haranguing by some of my favorite writing friends. And they were right, they are great!
I’m honestly loving that editors I didn’t sub to are doing their #10queries first so I can just enjoy the ride and soak up the advice without wondering if it’s mine! Also me: can’t wait until my editors start…
Let’s not talk about the number of refreshes I’ve done this morning. 🤪
So helpful to see how you approach the queries and pages and find areas to improve. Thanks for helping us all out with these!
Leigh Bardugo is my biggest YA fantasy inspiration, but in terms of amazing prose I really love Alix Harrow and Katherine Arden.
Thanks!
Would love to hear about your process for giving developmental edits. Do you edit in sweeps, looking for different things, or do you try to hit everything in one pass? Thanks!
That is reassuringly similar to the process I have used on my work so I’ll take that as a sign I’m on the right track. Thanks!
Thanks for taking the time! How do you approach doing developmental edits? Do you do multiple passes looking for different things, or do you try to hit everything in one swoop?
Yes, totally worth it! FWIW I do prefer stormlight archive to the mistborn books, but they are also good. And not as long 😉
Working my way through Sanderson’s Wind and Truth! It’s a commitment lol. Loved Onyx Storm and ToG!
And she’s in! Thank you to the #RevPit editors for your kind encouragement and for donating your time, and to all the writers embarking on this adventure for the amazing community we’re creating. Let’s do this!
I have a very intentional plan to do my #RevPit submission tomorrow morning, but I’m having some kind of FOMO seeing everyone sub today 😂
