This is so Wes Anderson, I can almost hear the affectless Jason Schwartzmann voiceover saying "My mother used to design undercover disguises for the Stasi"

Yes, Swiss scientist Fritz Zwicky coined the term “dark matter” which is impressive, but he also coined the term “spherical bastard” to describe people who are bastards no matter which way you look at them, and I think that should be celebrated more.

What an absolutely mad statistic. I bet in person capita terms that the real outliers are going to be Scotland and Northern Ireland.

One of my greatest career achievements was persuading a Director of Marketing that carousels are bad UX and don't work.

Only managed it once. And like all Directors of Marketing they left within a year.

But i still remember that day. I felt so alive.

Remember all the discourse surrounding Lindy West's polyamory memoir? The think pieces, the podcasts, the snarky responses from her husband? Based on the buzz, how many copies would you guess that book has sold so far?

3,000. 3,000 copies. That should scare the hell out of every book publicist

This Is a Gardening Show review – Zach Galifianakis’ charming new series feels like perfect TV Part lesson, part lark, these 15-minute episodes are a total joy. They have such a deliriously light touch they will make you want to run outside and plunge your hands into the soil

Zach Galifianakis’ “This is a Gardening Show” really is adorable.

Trump admin agrees to pay $1.25M to 2016 Trump adviser over surveillance DOJ OK'd the settlement with Carter Page, but he could still press claims against ex-officials.

A new wholly corrupt settlement handing your money to Trump cronies.

It’s notable for several reasons:

Two commercial planes nearly collide mid-air, forced to abort landings at JFK The flights, manned by American Airlines and Air Canada, respectively, glided within 350 feet of each other as they neared the runway, according to FlightRader24 data.

Which close call was this? There was one Monday at JFK. I was actually on a plane on the tarmac when that happened.

Patrick Radden Keefe on “London Falling,” His Book About a Teen-Ager’s Mysterious Life and Death The New Yorker staff writer, who has chronicled political violence under the Irish Republican Army and the opioid epidemic, traces how a teen came to impersonate an oligarch’s son.

Patrick Radden Keefe’s new book is excellent on how London has morphed.

I was in the wave of college grads joining the bigger wave of American banks setting up there in the 90s.

Left the week Diana died, and missed what followed all that deregulation and tax sheltering. (Oligarchs & dictators.)

This is why members of Congress are a lot likelier to die in office than in any state legislature. They're surrounded by people with a vested interest in keeping the game going as long as possible, and who frequently resort to grotesquely immoral tactics to cover up the reality of the situation.

But in all seriousness, fellow Californians: please don't get your information on the governor's race from Threads. I just spent a minute on there, and saw at least five misinformation posts.
