Working on some ancestral healing and looking for Crow and Raven mythology, stories, film, music, etc. Any cultures will do but bonus points for Siberian folklore 🙏

The Stages of America’s Next Top Model Grief, a 3 part act in gif form:
How I felt about Tyra Banks when I stopped watching around Season 5
He looked at me like who is this crazy little white girl and proceed with his entourage to the snack table. The question is moot 🤷♀️🤦♀️
May he rest in power.
I always admired Jesse Jackson so I’m thoroughly embarrassed the one time I met him in the VIP lounge at the first Clinton/Gore election night party in Memphis as a teenager, I was so starstuck the only thing I could think to say was “I loved you on Saturday Night Live”.
I remember this. It was so beautiful!
Watching this America’s Next Top Model doc is filling me with rage, especially in light of what we now know about how the modeling industry is complicit in sex trafficking. And we need to stop acting like it’s only men who exploit young women and girls for profit. Looking at you Tyra Banks 👁️👁️
I found the book most interesting as someone learning about #genealogy who has reconnected with hidden aunts and cousins we discovered through #Ancestry DNA testing. It was a nice peak into the experience of someone connecting with their birth family. Highly recommend Before and After! 4.5⭐️s
The book reads like mini memoirs of the children stolen/sold/adopted through Tann, centered on both their adoption circumstances as well as their quests to reconnect with their birth families. Being from Memphis I’m familiar with the Tann story and have some friends whose family were impacted.
Just finished this incredible book Before and After by Judy Christie and Lisa Wingate, author of Before We Were Yours. This is a collection of stories of survivors of Georgia Tann’s child trafficking of orphans via the Tennessee Children’s Home Society in the 1920s-40s in Memphis. 💙📚
I barely used twitter and deleted it ages ago so Threads was my first real experiment with a public profile. Kinda wishing I’d anonymized myself more so I might go more in that direction here given how creepy AI makes things. I like to be an authentic open book but I don’t think that’s safe anymore.
Welcome aboard! I’m trying to move myself over here as well. They have better privacy controls here.
I’m wondering if the spelling variations of the Byrd, Bird, and Burd last name indicate a mixed race line that also connects their migration from Tennessee to Missouri? I’m hoping to identify and honor the stories of my lost possibly Malagasy ancestors but I’m having trouble tracking them down 🙏
Does anyone have a similar DNA story connected to the Byrd/Bird/Burd family (with spelling changes over generations)? Or Carter, Lee, Pendleton, or Clack ancestors that married Byrds and migrated from Virginia tobacco plantations to Sevierville, TN to subsistence farming in Missouri?
Any #genealogy folks wanna help solve a mystery? My family DNA results on #Ancestry are almost entirely British/Celtic colonial US but a tiny bit of unexpected Maritime South East Asian. I suspect this is a line of enslaved ancestors from Madagascar connected to Virginia Colony plantation families.
Also the blue on black in dark mode is a low contrast nightmare
Anyone else in the @bsky.app AuDHD fam find the UI here too intense? All the blue links, hashtags, icons, etc make everything feel actionable like I’m walking into a casino. It’s like sensory overload. Is there a setting to tone it down a bit? I like the vibes but the UX is screaming at me 🎉🎇🪩🦋🥳🤩🎆
And I thought it was weird that I had Ralph Waldo Emerson quotes taped to my walls as a teenager 🤷♀️😂 These are great though!
She does have a point
What a role model
I’m hoping to rediscover the smaller community connections here. That’s what I liked the most about threads but now it’s just conspiracy theories and TikTok nonsense. I’m like who are all these people on my posts?
Love everything about this! 💞
The Onion now just reporting the news 🤷♀️
The thing about being disappointed when your idols turn out to be heinous people is if you stop idolizing celebrities or humans in general, you won’t have this problem. Parasocial stan culture will always disappoint you. #killyourheroes
Guess Congress better get started 🤷♀️
We really need to come to grips with the fact that there’s not going to be legitimate midterm elections with this administration still in power. They know what comes next for them and will do anything to retain power. They need to be removed before the midterms.
Follow for more book reviews. I usually read a book a week, mostly about cults currently of the Christian conservative variety, politics, history, cultural anthropology, memoirs, literature, and historical fiction. Currently interested in storytelling about ancestors. Here’s last year’s 5⭐️s 💙📚
I realized that Uncle Jerry, one of her primary abusers is likely Jeremy Spencer, founding member of Fleetwood Mac. How is this cult still allowed to operate and these people aren’t all in prison? I guess considering the US government protects famous pedophiles, it’s no surprise.
