I hope they are still well-behaved 50 years from now.

Yes, I'm pointing out that they are Asian ornamental plants but some hellebores are also becoming invasive. They are a serious problem in forest edges and stream banks in Chapel Hill and elsewhere.

Asarum canadense (Canadian Wild Ginger, Common Wild Ginger, Wild Ginger) | North Carolina Extension Gardener Plant Toolbox

I have to put my #Asarumcanadense seeds outside today. They need warm stratification then cold stratification, so #wintersowing has been a more complicated adventure with them than others, but I'm hopeful it will work!

Hey there fellow #nativeplant folks!

The Georgia Native Plant Society is now on bluesky: @ganativeplants.bsky.social

Give them a follow for the latest news, like the annual symposium (2/15 & 2/16) and our legislation to change the state flower to the native Sweetbay Magnolia!

Also #CompostNow for things that can't be processed or added to outdoor piles easily (meat, bones, dairy, large pieces of bread, dirty cardboard, etc)

Last year I read an article he wrote in which he characterized the movement as extremist/full of purists. He's among those permaculture folks who go beyond questioning invasion biology to dismiss it.

Oops, I included a screenshot by mistake... and a picture from the Blue Ridge Parkway at the end.

Big fan of Pollan until he turned against the native plant movement. Oh, well.
