I know that I don't post my daily coding posts here, but I wanted to celebrate my 1000th day of coding.
Here, I've learned how to gradually zoom
I have come a long way since day one, and I will continue to code and learn for the days to come

Successfully submitted my first game to the GCPL game jam. Still have more work to do, but I’m happy that I was able to publish a fully working game 👾 #gamedev #gamejam #retro #pixelart #indedev
looked up a cheat code on gamefaqs only to find out that I had posted it to the site myself 17 years ago
Pixel art editor showing a small tileset on a grid. The tiles include grass patches, a building, a rounded structure, utility poles, and a road tile forming a square loop. The canvas uses a limited grayscale palette with some green accents. A preview window in the corner displays the tiles arranged together, and the interface shows layer controls and drawing tools.
Guess I’m at that age when I can’t stay awake past 11pm. Seems like it’s always midnight when I get a chance to work on my #pico-8 game and I end up falling asleep in my chair. Liking my assets so far though! #gamedev #pixelart #retro
A small silver CRT TV with built-in speakers displays the Metroid Prime Trilogy title screen. The TV sits on a white rolling stand with yellow, white, and red composite cables plugged into the front. On the shelf below are a white Nintendo Wii console and a silver DVD/VCR player. A digital TV converter box with a small plush toy on top and a rabbit-ear antenna sit on the TV, creating a retro gaming setup.
Just whipped out the Metroid Prime Trilogy on mine. Only had a few games for it but enjoyed this series with the Wii controller and nunchuck
Babbage’s and Electronic’s Boutique were my go-tos in the late 90s-early 00s. Stood in line for hours during the Pokémon League Summer Training Tour of 1999 for some Pokémon figurines.
Shadow of Memories is such a strange but awesome game! I rented that on a whim but never got to finish it.
Signed up for my first game jam with absolutely no prior experience! #gamedev
A hand holding red and blue Nintendo Game Boy cartridges for Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue in front of a small CRT television on a white stand.
Everyone’s talking about FireRed and LeafGreen and I’m sitting here with my unplayable OG’s #pokemon
“An isometric pixel art tileset showing grassy dirt blocks, stone-topped terrain, sloped grass tiles, and dark stone or asphalt blocks. The tiles are arranged in rows on a transparent checkerboard background, displaying different heights, angles, and edge variations for use in a game environment.
An isometric pixel art sprite sheet featuring stylized trees and ground props on a transparent checkerboard background. From left to right are full trees with orange, blue, and green foliage, followed by a bare, leafless tree trunk. Below them are small environmental assets including rocks, a pebble, and a low green bush.
Sometimes it’s hard to find time to draw, but my isometric assets are slowly coming along #pixelart #isometric
Working on some isometric assets and why are pixel art bare trees so difficult to draw? Branches never seem to look quite right.
Back on Digg for the first time since 2011 let’s goooooo
A screenshot from the recently released Barbarians for MS-DOS. It uses a similar layout to the versions ZX Spectrum and some Psion pocket computers. A central main map is surrounded by various information panels: on the left, information about the empire as a whole, on the right, information about the last referenced map square, and underneath, the game's name and a one-line prompt and menu display.
Recently I released #Barbarians for #msdos. This release was for the #DOSember Game Jam, a 3-month game jam for MS-DOS preceding the month-long DOSember streaming event for 2025. cyningstan.itch.io/barbarians-dos #gamedev

Did they use AI to name it?
Wife got me this pixel art display gadget for my desk and I absolutely love it. Been making my own little 16x16 pieces to flip through. #divoom #pixelart #ditoo #retro
Turok: Dinosaur Hunter for N64 (1997)
Goldeneye 007 may be the FPS that people think of first on N64, but Turok WAS the first FPS on N64
With an insanely creative arsenal of weapons, and buckets of blood—it screams late 90s edginess in the best way
Turok definitely deserves a home on your shelf 🦖
A gravel bike with black handlebars is paused on a dirt trail surrounded by tall pine trees. The path winds gently ahead through a sunlit forest with patches of green grass visible in the distance under a partly cloudy blue sky.
Been hitting the trails every weekend lately while my wife prepares to run a 5k. I’ve been putting this bicycle through its paces. Also a great inspiration exercise for the isometric game assets I’m working on. #cycling #outdoors #trails
Xenoblade Chronicles may be one of my favorite series out there. That being said, I absolutely hate the UI in the second game. #xenoblade #gaming #UI
Missed a few days of pixel drawing, so I had to make them up. Drew some more assets for whatever this is that I’m working on #pixelart #pico-8 #gamedev
V/H/S/Halloween may be the worst of the franchise. Yeesh #horror
Day 2: drawing a vacuum cleaner boss in my pico-8 game. Maybe I should give it some teeth. #pico-8 #pixelart #gamedev
Isometric pixel art designed in Tiled
I’ve been working on this isometric tile set for a little while and I’m liking how it’s turning out. One of my biggest challenges right now is readability. Upper/lower levels can be hard to distinguish from each other, and environmental objects blend in too much. #pixelart #isometric #tileset
Pixel art of a tuxedo cat in Pico-8
Going to challenge myself to draw pixel art everyday this month. Been having a blast learning Pico-8 in all its rudimentary glory #pico8 #pixelart
Why is my keyboard always tired?
Because it has to work two shifts.
