A new Victims’ Code This consultation seeks views on proposed updates to The Code of Practice for Victims of Crime in England and Wales (Victims' Code).

We will be examining the proposed revisions in detail & encourage everyone to take part in the consultation to help shape and ensure any changes improve victims’ experiences.

Figures released by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show 499 homicides were recorded by police in the 12 months to September 2025, a drop of 7% year on year from 539.
